Werewolves are born or bitten. It is a recessive trait that is only guaranteed when both parents are werewolves. Whether intentionally or not, it is their responsibility to assist with the recovery and teach them. Shifting can be done faster and more comfortably with repetition. A werewolf's instincts may be more difficult to control, especially when shifted, so they must learn restraint. A young or new werewolf will have trouble resisting the urge to chase something that is running from them, attack something that looks like prey, and sometimes flee from loud or startling noises. This little bugger has kept me busy for much longer than I wanted to spent time into him. It's a sketch I did in 2006 that I had grown very very fond of. The fact, that I no longer posess the original sketch (and even if I did, it was done on crummy paper) made me swear to myself that I eventually finished him digitally. And here I am... four years later... and you know what? I think I created the first piece in 2010 that I really really like. *beams* As for the content of the picture: What you can see is a male Unseeing Bloodhound. The Unseeing are a clan of desert Hounds that have reserved a special place in my heart. They are desert dwellers and can read the sand and the wind like no other. There are hundreds upon hundreds of little rooms exactly like this one throughout the Amber Rust Hive, and similar rooms are common in other hives, though the specifics differ. The primary purpose of these rooms is to provide space for shedding the exoskeleton that's out of the way of foot traffic. That frame on the wall is for holding onto during the molt, and afterward the shed skeleton is placed in one of the drawers below the comb there where they will be retrieved by the cleaners to be examined and either recycled or discarded. That's not the only thing the rooms are used for though. Luz the Dryad surgeon's small operating room. Part of his success as a doctor can be chalked up to the fact that he's situated his operating room directly underneath his tree's root system. Dryads have a spell that encourages growth and health, meant to make trees more apt to let them connect them. At this proximity it can also encourage surgery wounds to heal faster and with less chance of infection. Humans may find the blood stained hedge clippers a little alarming though.
