The Incredible Journey meets The Terminator?

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

The first issue of DC/Vertigo's three-issue WE3 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely has just hit the comics shops. The U.S. military bioengineers a dog, a cat and a rabbit into intelligent unstoppable soldier/assassins, but they escape and want to "go home". Vertigo's website includes a downloadable art PDF.

Vertigo's publicity describes it as a cross between "The Terminator" and "The Incredible Journey". But since it also says it is the authors' attempt to create a "Western manga", it seems likely that the "WE3" title is a tribute to Osamu Tezuka's "W3" 1960s manga and anime TV series, known in America as "The Amazing 3" (Bonnie Bunny, Ronnie Horse and Zero Duck).

Those who attended ConFurences in the 1990s might remember the NitroCoon radio show presentations - an anthro sci-fi tale. The fur behind NitroCoon was Avi Melman. For years Avi hoped to bring NitroCoon to cartoons and was pitching it around Hollywood.

Now Avi has his own animation studio! In this interview Avi talks about his first animated series which features werewolves.

October 2004 Upcoming Furry Comics

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

Well, heck. Look what I found, languishing in my email box. Sheesh. Without further delay, here's Doodles: "With halloween coming, many publishers will be focusing on spooky or supernatural topics, as can be seen from this month's listings."

Also look for Treesong's addendum at the end.

Bears Against Busch

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

A bear raided a campsite cooler and drank 36 cans of Rainier beer, puncturing each with a claw and guzzling the contents before passing out drunk.

He tried one can of Busch and that was more than enough.

The bear was chased off the grounds, but returned for more beer the following day. He had to be baited with a trap containing the usual sweets and... two more cans of beer.

2004 Recommended Anthropomorphics List - 1st update

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

This is the 1st update of the fourth annual Recommended Anthropomorphics List. It has two purposes. Firstly, it is open for all Furry fans to recommend the best anthropomorphic movies, TV series, novels, artwork, games, etc. that they find during 2004. It is for fans who want to know what Furry movies, TV series, novels, etc. are worth looking for. The List is open to anyone to add to, and it will be updated at least three times before the end of the year. If you find any 2004 Furry movies or comic books or comic strips, etc. that are worth recommending, please send your recommendations through the end of 2004 to:

Fred Patten
11863 West Jefferson Boulevard
Culver City, California 90230-6322
fredpatten@earthlink.net

Secondly, this List is to be used as a guide for nominations to the 2004 Ursa Major Award, which will be presented at Anthrocon 2005 for the Best of the calendar year 2004 in the first ten categories. The List was actually started in 2001 as an aid to those fans who said, "The Award sounds like a good idea but I don't have the slightest idea what's eligible to be nominated." Read the List and find out what is eligible for the Best of 2004.

The Meow Mix Cafe

Dressed in a tuxedo, Simba sat at the front of one of Manhattan's newest dining establishments and nodded at people who greeted him. Then he yawned, began to roll on the floor and lick his paws. That's acceptable behavior at the Meow Mix Cafe, a new eatery designed especially for cats and their human owners.
