Later on at Golden State Fur Con we met R. A. Meenan, author of the Zyearth Chronicles series of books. Which go like this, according to the web site: “A magepunk world with magic gems, dragon A.I.s, anthropomorphic characters, supernatural summons, magic mobs, time travel, war, deep platonic friendship, hints of romance, characters all over the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and creative swearing!” Which sounds like a great place to start! Shadow Cast is the first book in the series, and details for all four can be found at the web site.

Wolves Taught Human Ancestors new tricks 100,000 Years Ago.
Posted by Anon on Tue 26 Mar 2002 - 18:17"We believe there were several forces that led to the development of anatomically and behaviorally modern humans, and that the close relationship between our human ancestors and wolves was one of the key factors," Paul Tacon, principal research scientist at the Australian Museum, told Reuters.
At the heart of their contention that the ancestors of man's best friend were instrumental in helping humans to survive and thrive is what they call growing archaeological and genetic evidence that the partnership went back at least 100,000 to 130,000 years -- far longer than conventionally thought."

"Worst Of VCL" causes rumblings in art community
Posted by Anon on Sun 24 Mar 2002 - 12:44A recently-created furry portal called Fur Central has caused a few eyebrows to be lifted recently within the Furry community. The proprietor of the site has created a half-joking, half-serious list that he posts about once a week called "The Worst of the VCL." This hand-picked list profiles the thumbnails and description entries from various VCL artists. In the inaugral posting of the "Worst of the VCL" the author explains, "I've decided to start a new weekly feature ... for something that's been driving me nuts for a long, long time: bad art in the VCL. ... starting now, every week I will point out my picks for the 10 worst images from the VCL's recent uploads."

Shaolin Soccar, DVD
Posted by mach on Sat 23 Mar 2002 - 00:00Just fyi, this isn't particularly furry, but it is funny, something I think most furs would enjoy. I didn't see any reviews and I figured I'd try my paw at one. I give it a 9 for the lack of furry content and this being a furry news site. Otherwise, its a 10.

Rumors spread: Sibe behind bars?
Posted by Kiala on Thu 21 Mar 2002 - 09:12It seems word is spreading over the newsgroups that Ross "Sibe" Reddick, wanted by quite a few artists and network admins for numerous counts of copyright violation, distribution of artwork, DoS attacks, and general script kiddie annoyances, has apparently landed himself in jail.
Now I must note that this claim has not been substantiated, and should be treated as rumor until someone can prove that the poster does in fact speak the truth..
