Upcoming Furry Comics for November 2003

No votes yet

Doodles and Treesong wiegh in with this month's upcoming comics list.Whew! Worldcon takes a lot out of a rabbit. But here it is, time for another listing of what's coming up in comics, based on the Diamond Comics catalog. Before I get into the list, let me just say that if you love comics, and indy comics especially, then The Beguiling in Toronto is Mecca. I could have walked in there with a suitcase full of cash and walked out broke. Happy, but broke. Check out their website: www.beguiling.com and see for yourself.

Speaking of websites, it has occurred to me that if I can give you site links to the publishers, you can see some of this stuff for yourself. Maybe if you can check out sample pages, you'll order a few more of these titles. And don't forget to check out back issues, either.

Lots of good stuff, including some holiday releases, so let's get going.

pg 22
DARK HORSE
Website: www.darkhorse.com
Usagi Yojimbo #71 - $2.99 - order #SEP030022

pg 110
DC COMICS
Website: www.dccomics.com
Looney Tunes #108 - $2.25 - order #SEP030285
Foghorn plays detective, Bugs plays with motorbikes, and Charlie Dog plays with Santa. Gee, I only get to play with myself...

Cartoon Cartoons #24 - $2.25 - order #SEP030286
Featuring "Cow and Chicken." You've been warned.

Powerpuff Girls #44 - $2.25 - order #SEP030287
This issue goes to the dogs (and cats), as the talking dog of Townsville goes up against the evil mind-controlling kitty. Nice to see DC stopped requiring mandatory drug testing for their freelancers.

Scooby-Doo #78 - $2.25 - order #SEP030288
The gang chases ghost gold miners and dragons. You'll understand if I cheer on the dragons, hmmmm?

pg 113
Thundercats: Hammerhand's Revenge #2 - $2.95 - order #SEP030305
Lion-O is captured, just like in half the plotlines we've seen before. I'd like to see Snarf get captured, then left to die. That would be the most popular comic in ten years.

Superman/Thundercats - $5.95 - order #SEP030306
BECAUSE NOBODY DEMANDED IT! Judd Winick has done far better work than this. So have Ale Garza and Trevor Scott. But, Time Warner has to pay for those executive brunches _somehow._

This is a new title that premiered at ComicCon last July, and I was fortunate enough to get a copy for myself, as well as meet the primary artist, Enrico Casarosa. Also on the creative team are Mike Lapinski and Amy McNamara. It's a wonderful set of tales about a young female aviator living on the Italian Riviera in the 1930's, and I can't reccommend it highly enough. Please do give it a try.

A reoffering (STAR18930), but we didn't mention it the first time. 'An evocative murder mystery set in the Norwegian countryside, boiling with passion, buried past crimes, revelations, and ambiguous characters. Translated into English, it recasts the story with Jason's iconic animal characters from his previous novel Sshhhh!'
