Animation: 'Chhota Bheem and the Throne of Bali'

Your rating: None Average: 3.3 (4 votes)

Animation Xpress #415, January 7, 2013, has the first trailer for Indian studio Green Gold Pictures’ second Chhota Bheem animated CGI children's feature, Chhota Bheem and the Throne of Bali, following the smash success (in India, in Hindi) of last year’s Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan. As before, the movie is not really anthropomorphic, but it does have Bheem’s talking monkey friend Jaggu (“Jaggu is surprisingly kickass”), and the trailer shows lots of evil Rangda’s anthropomorphized monsters. Out May 3, 2013 in India, in Hindi.

Animation Xpress’ article includes the movie poster, the 1’32” trailer (in English), and an interview with Green Gold’s founder and the movie’s director Rajiv Chilaka that includes a plot synopsis:

How is the movie different from Chhota Bheem 1?

Even though the kids thoroughly enjoyed Chhota Bheem 1, as makers we felt we could have done a lot better. Although the movie had the kids completely engrossed, they only laughed about 10 times on an average during the entire movie. For the new movie, the kids would probably laugh up to 100 times. We would have 4 songs in this one compared to two in the first one. Overall movie 2 would have a lot more entertainment for the kids.

Well, of course the movie has lots of songs and dancing! It is a Bollywood production.
