ConFurence 2003: The Furry West may be the 15th year of our convention, but it is full of things never before tried at ConFurence:

(Read on...)First time we have a Children's Programming Track, and a child membership rate at the door for ages 6-14. Alison Stern will be hosting the Children's Programming room throughout the weekend for Young-un's age 6 to 14.

First time we have more than 3 guests. There's SEVEN Guests of Honor this year, and dozens of special appearances, including 3 producers from Cartoon Network who will be D.J.'s at the Fursuit Dance on Saturday, and a director of an Oscar-Nominated Animated Movie who is also an Ursa Major Award nominee.

First time we are having a Charity Casino. All proceeds go to the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound in Rosamond, California.

First time we are putting a Stage in the middle of the Dealer's Room. Events like the "Quick Draw" and artist's demonstrations, such as those seen at ComicCon help to bring people into the Dealer's Room.

First time we have a dedicated Party Floor at the hotel. Contact Alan Lutton at partymaven@confurence.net if you want to move your room to the party floor, even if you are not having a party... we need our people on that floor to act as a "cushion" from the hotel's other guests. If you are having a party, Alan can help you get ice, doorstops, advice on handling crowds, and other Snafu's that you might not realize until it's too late. (Note: Parties not on the designated Party Floor may be closed down by the hotel if any complaints come in.)

First time the Program Book will have color inside pages. We are still accepting submissions up until April 5 for artwork fitting this year's theme: The Furry West. Send artwork under 3Megs to director@confurence.net, or snail-mail photo-ready art to ConFurence Program Book, PO Box 84721, San Diego, CA 92138-4721.

...and there's a lot more "Firsts" at this year's convention. Come see the fun, the excitement, the convention that started it all!

ConFurence 2003: The Furry West takes place April 25-27, 2003 at the Hilton Burbank Airport and Convention Center, in Burbank California. Visit Confurence.Net for more information.

Actually for ConFurence 8, I think it was, they had the FurryMuck Wizards as guests. I believe there were something like twelve of us there. :)

There may have been more than 3 "guests" as in "comp'd memberships", but there has never been more than 3 "Guests of Honor" in any past ConFurence.

In fact, there are usually dozens of comp'd memberships every year... Laura and Frank Kelly Freas, for example, stop by the convention each year and we wouldn't dream of charging them for memberships. Jymn Magon ("Disney Afternoon", "A Goofy Movie") is also a regular attendee.

Nick Cuti, who was Joe Staton's partner in crime for the 1970's E-Man comic book (Charleton Comics) is a So. Cal. local, and asked for a free membership so he could hang out at the convention with his old friend. No problem there, either. (Joe Staton is one of this year's 7 Guests of Honor, and we're flying him out from New York)
