An Article on Ananova describes how racoons, not natives of Europe, bred in Germany in the 1930's have grown so great in numbers that there are now as many racoons-per-square-mile as there are in the US.

Well I guess it is only fair, after all the foxes and starlings and boars and pheasants and house sparrows and all that Europe has given US.

The animals in the photo look more like raccoon dogs to me than North American raccoons.
