Punxsutawney Phil gets bodyguards...

No votes yet

In the effort to fight terrorism, Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog of Groundhog's Day, is getting

bomb-sniffing dogs, state police, and National Guard troops

to protect him. All bags will be searched; all visitors will be inspected; and no cars may approach Gobbler's Knob (the site) on that day.

Talk about paranoia! Now folks know why we PA Germans get called the 'Dumb Dutch'.

Still, as a native Pennsylvanian and one of the 'Dumb Dutch', I'm pleased to see the State Government taking some measures to protect one of the few celebrities PA has left... ;) And seeing as how Punxsatawny Phil is PA's local furry celeb (and has been for almost 100 years) they ought to have him and the Grundsow Lodge as special guests at this year's AnthroCon. The rabbit and the mouse get all the coverage -- let's hear it for groundhogs!
