Why are people scared of us friendly fluffbutts?
I find it funny that we live in a day and age that people don't care about others' sexuality much anymore (straight, gay, bi, trans, etc) but just the term "furry" is such a taboo. It's quite annoying and makes it hard for me to tell anyone :/

I was watching some Glock torture tests when...
Animals With Issues… Comic Book Issues!
John Will Balsley is a cartoon artist with a distinctly “loose” style of design. He shows off his drawing talents on his web site (www.jwbalsleycomix.com) where he’s created several rather-adult-leaning graphic stories with titles like The Devil’s Henchmen and Taboose the Meerkat. Many of these feature various critters who are collectively referred to as The Roofles. Makes more sense if you look at it… or, maybe not.

Tried my hand at drawing a 'Chibi'-esque art style, and one of my new fursonas was the test subject.
The day I became a furry...
So, it's my third day here as an "active" member of the furry community. And thus far, you guys have been great. I really appreciate all the warm welcome, genuine greetings and most definitely the hugs!
I've been a passive part of the community for about five years or so. At 22, I first learned about the fandom after running across a series of Anthrocon convention videos on YouTube. At the time, I thought it was some sort of professional mascot convention. It wasn't until I started reading the comments section and started watching convention panel videos that I realized it was much, much more than that. This was an entire community of anthropomorphic enthusiasts and artists! And of course from there, one thing led to another as I ran across websites and media entirely centered around the furry fandom. I've always been drawn to and fascinated by anthropomorphic media (be it cartoon animations, comics, certain videogames, and so on) and it was awesome to find an internet culture which shared my interests. So I suppose you could say I was officially furry at 22, or maybe sooner, I'm not sure.
So now, some years later, at the age of 27, this blue/gray fox is finally taken the plunge into the community. Now is time to get off the sidelines and experience the culture first paw (and to you LURKERS, I advocate you do the same).
So, that's my short story but I want to hear yours. I'd love hear what you all have to share. Tell me about "the day you became a furry." What was it that drew you to the fandom and why?
