I'm new, any help?
I've been browsing this subreddit for a few days and I've decided I want to give the whole furry thing a shot. I feel like I'm kind of in an uncommon position, though. I'm fascinated by the idea of anthropomorphic animals and I really enjoy some of the art made by people in the community. I'm not interested in the porn or roleplaying at this time and I have no artistic ability to speak of, so I'm not really sure where I would fit in to the community. I also don't have a fursona or anything. Any suggestions on where I should start?

17m, need encouragement.
Hey guys, I'm a Fox, and I guess I just needed to say this. I'm going to be going to college in a few years, and soon enough Anthrocon. I really want to find a mate, but lately I've been discouraged. I've pretty much ingrained it in my head that I'm not going to find the love of my life I guess. The thing is, I can't just settle for any girl. She NEEDS to be a Christian, and she NEEDS to be overweight/fat, because for some stupid reason I'm not attracted to skinny girls at all. So both of those things severely narrows down my choices in finding the one. The thing is, I'm terrified of dying alone. I want to live the rest of my life with someone who will be there for me, to wake up next to someone special every morning. I don't want to just breeze through my life never knowing what it was like to feel true love. I've never dated or kissed a girl before in my life. So yeah thanks for reading all this crap I guess.

Chlorine leak at Hyatt Regency during Midwest Furfest deemed intentional – 19 Hospitalized – UPDATED
MWFF 2014 gas leak news roundup
Here's a short update/roundup of what happened this morning: (upd 11:46am EST Dec 10th)
Around 12:40am Central Standard Time everyone was evacuated from MidWest FurFest's hotel, the Rosemont Hyatt, because of a chlorine gas release on the 9th floor of the hotel.
HAZMAT crews were brought in. Furs were evacuated outside into freezing weather or into the Convention Center nearby. An all clear was called at 3:30-4:30am CST and everyone ether went to bed or called it an all-nighter.
Police have released a statement calling it an "intentional gas leak" and are investigating.
19 were hospitalized. AP reports all have been released.
MWFF needs info on anyone connected to this. If you have a tip, please contact ConOps or email security AT furfest.org.

I'm not sure why but I've always felt excited to identify as a furry. Anyone else?
Ever since I heard about furries to the day I joined the fandom, it always seemed so neat. Now that I'm apart of it and have my fursona set up, and that I'm also a pretty good artist when it comes to furries more than anything else I feel like I really fit in. Everyone is so nice here and welcoming and seeing everyone's own drawing and fursuits is pretty awesome! I don't know it's pretty exciting for me for some reason.

Are the folks involved in the MWFF leak ok?
There's a lot of news going around about that Chlorine leak at the Hyatt hotel at MWFF that happened lasg night. Apparently, some people were hospitalized when they complained about dizzyness. All I want to know is, are they alright? If anyone knows them, tell them that I'm giving them my best wishes! Thank you!
Edit: Apparently the source pointing to an AC malfunction was discredited? Thats just wrong. I'm sure the police will catch the purp though. Hopefully there won't be an incident like this in the future, and not a whole lot of drama.

New(ish) to furry fandom (help!)
I'm a 26 y.o./bi/w/m, and I've become more and more interested in fur as time has gone by. I don't really know a whole ton about the whole fur community, nor how I'd fit into it. I know that I wouldn't be into the whole fursuit situation, but I love ears and tails, and I'm pretty into the anthropomorphic art I've seen.
I'd like to explore my interest in this more deeply, and I'd be interested in finding an artist to make a fursona (depending on cost.)
Thanks for your help r/furry! :D

Hazmat Party Foul, $3 Million Fursuit, Parades, Hugs, Tickling… Newsdump (12/8/14)

Thank you all so much! (To all the MWFF goers out there)
Thank you so much, I went for the day today and I had one of the best times of my life! It was my first con, so needless to say i was a little nervous, but it was so wonderful, I got my first commission there and got to see some great suits, great art, and such a wonderful crowd!
I brought my mate and although she is a furry, she was not as into the fandom as me, and being unused to the idea of cons she was nervous, but everyone there was so open and kind that she felt right at home and suddenly we were having the time of our lives. So many great things going on, even for just the day! I couldn't imagine what it would have been like to stay for all three days. But all in all thank you all, there is no fandom out there that is more kind and welcoming than ours, and it really shows!
Your Midwest furry, Leo

Chemical leak, MFF has been evacuated
There has been a chemical leak in the Hyatt Regency Hotel and all attendees have been evacuated.
I have no confirmation of anything beyond a chemical leak, but I have heard chlorine mentioned several times.
Almost everyone is okay - if you're worried about someone make sure to contact them. Unfortunately, I did see an ambulance drive away with some attendees inside.
Edit: 2:30 AM I now have confirmation that it indeed was a chlorine leak.
Edit two: 4:30 AM we have been allowed back into our rooms!
