Okay let me do my best to give some more info as to the background of FurGather. I've been up for 2 days now so I'm sorry if any of this is just me rambling on or just doesn't make sense XD

Okay, so around 3 or 4 months ago I got together with another developer to begin making this site. I knew the other developer had some sort of experience with social networking site development which is why I wanted to partner up with them.

They are not a furry, and at this point in time wish to remain anonymous. Anyway, about a month into the project they had decided they wanted to go on to other things and so I began working more on it by my self.

I finally decided on the name I liked for it "FurGather" on 09/24/14 (Just over a month ago now) which is also the date that I put the site up live so that I could have people help me test it out. I did not expect more than maybe 30-50 people to help me for the next... 6+ months at least. Well, anyway. The site was up on a very shitty server for development. I wanted to continue making it better and even more unique.

At this current point in time, the site is still basically a baby, it is essentially a facebook clone (For now) as that's what I wanted to model the site after just so that it would be easy for users to start using when coming from facebook.

I have many other plans to build around it and change it up to not so much like facebook, but I wanted to have it look like facebook in the beginning just to help me keep the main idea of the site (A furry social networking site modeled after facebook)

So anyway, from there, about 10 days ago, I was just minding my own business, workin on the site and then noticed a bunch of people started joining. Me thinking "Cool! more people to help test" Well, within 12 hours we reached 1700 new members, and an average of 150 active users at any given time... Remember the site was on a shitty server, so it was crashing like hell. Was able to raise some donations and was able to move it over to a new server.

Now, I was COMPLETELY on my own here.. I was the ONLY freakin person working on the site at this point. Luckly I was able to round up a few people to help me out, so we now have the FurGather team, which at the moment, officially we only have two developers, my self and one other person. We do have plans to expand the team as well.

Right this moment we are working on making a steady build to push to live that has less issues than right now before be really begin working on adding new features to the site and changing visuals. When I say steady build, I mean optimizing it to load faster (We fixed that quite a bit so far) make it more secure for user info (It is a LOT more secure than it was when it was on the shitty server, however we are still working to make sure it's as secure as we can possibly make it.) and figure out some of these issues that are going on such as why some users are not able to connect or load the page on some devices or some internet connections.

So anyway, yeah, that's what's going on. xD

So... hi there!

Wall of text coming through...

I'm not exactly sure why I am here, but hey, I actually stayed here. Been a lurker for a month now. I've posted a few meta posts so far.

Some might be able to recall me as one of those who wanted a day for writing stories. Others might remember me as the guy who recently posted a Homestuck-related thing (that got downvoted to zero, should've known about its infamy).

Now going into some history (please pardon me)...

Thinking through it, the first time I actually got attached to something that is (not exactly) furry is when I watched this movie around 10 years ago. It was probably the first movie I ever consciously considered my favorite (but I don't even know why).

I first became aware of the existence of the fandom in the Minecraft Forums, around the same time as I learned about another fandom.

Let's just say I've technically been in the fandom for probably a year, not because I've participated in the community (I've only started last month) or searched for porn (I'm not into sex in general; I'm probably asexual) but because I drew what would soon turn out to be my fox fursona in "Colors!" out of pure boredom, and then used him for mini-RPs in a section in the Minecraft Forums.

I have no flipping clue why I chose a fox. Really. I never really understood the way I pick things that I like.

I'd just like to note that the drawing was pretty much my first attempt at drawing anything resembling a person (including actual humans). Here's an updated version of him, having non-species consistent proportions among other things. Here's an even later rough sketch of him, which I think is significantly better than any of the previous ones. And he has a name: Treciva.

As OCs go, I eventually got attached to him (in a way). And then came my discovery of /r/furry/...

I've first joined this subreddit last month, trying to find some subreddits to get me started in redditing (wow such verb). I don't even know why I bothered looking at this subreddit, but one (very) probable reason is that I've recently watched GOTG at the time.

Feel free to blame Rocket Raccoon for this.

Since then, I've stayed here. The art is really awesome, cute, and sometimes thought-provoking. I also like the meta discussions; I like discussions about the concepts behind fandoms.

And now here I am, trying to find my place in such a huge community. Still trying to find that one spot where I'd be able to fit in. Been thinking about making a FA account, but I'm not much into porn, so maybe I'll need some help getting started with filters and such.

I'm just a random 15-year old (turning 16) guy, in case you were wondering. Figured most of you are definitely older than I am, so if ever you see me being too immature, don't even hesitate to talk to me about it.
