Scaleys vs furries
So, my sona is either a tortoise or chameleon. I guess I have two.
Are the reptiles still considered part of the furry community?

Cat Memes done by Cat Girls (probably nsfw, it's a video of girls with ears and tails)
Is a handler needed for a convention? Are anime conventions generally welcoming to furries?
I'm still making my first suit, but I plan on getting it done for Anime Expo. Would I need a handler at an event like that? Or they more for if you suit in public? (My friend might not want to help me out at the con because he'll be with a separate group.)
EDIT: Additional unrelated question: How does one RP? I am so bad with getting into character or even how to start an RP.

scammed by chesta.
First time on this subreddit...and i really want to vent and warn the furry community about an issue that has been going on for several years. Now, i am a patient person, but when my friend ("Titan Wolf") commissioned a fur by the name of Chesta husky in 2008/09, my patience would be put to the test. We paid her over $1000 for 2 half suits, and were promised completion within 3 months. 3 months went by...no suits. asked again, got a bull shit excuse. in fact over the next few years we would receive a bunch of bullshit excuses like "My dog ate the head, need to refoam" "got bit by a rattle snake, in the hospital, almost died" "sent them but i think they were lost in the mail" Shortly after we paid, all of a sudden shes bragging about her new pure bred husky puppy, and new shiny car. kind of fishy right? we tried to be understanding. she has kids, they take up time, i get that. But this situation is ridiculous. and still continues to this day, with more excuses. She says she has no time to spare but keeps taking on new projects.
so. thoughts. advice? thanks for the vent. ~ Afenen

Episode 252 - Put Your Lips Around The Maypole
For anyone interested, I made a speed painting video of one of my pieces (8 hours slammed into 10 minutes) :3
A random question.
about a month and a half ago i woke up in the morning and when i tried to clear my throat while laying down i made a purring sound and it was awesome, i was able to do it multiple times that morning before my throat got tired. ever since i can usually make one purr when i wake up in morning but completely forget how to recreate the sound immediately after doing so.
seeing that my fursona is a lynx (is like a fancy bobcat) i would love to be able to recreate the sound when interacting with a few of my furry friends.
I was curious if anyone here knows how to mimic or produce a purring sound effect on command and if so could describe how they do so.
sorry i know this is a weird post hope you all don't mind. i just really like sound effects.

What places would be safe for public suiting ( I dont have a suit yet but when I do and if I choose to do this) where would be safe?
What places would be safe for public suiting ( I dont have a suit yet but when I do and if I choose to do this) where would be safe? I am in the US but I don't know if there are places that are safe to fursuit publicly (if I ever choose to whether or not I even get a fursuit)

Any good Web comics I should know about?
Thanks to a recent post I was introduced to the web comic Dreamkeepers and I would love to find something else similar to it. Preferably sfw. or at least something that keeps fan service to a minimum. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Fuzzy Cloth People
Taking a cue from the life and work of Jim Henson (who else?), Gordon Smuder and his associates formed The Puppet Forge back in 2001 to make and perform with puppets for a variety television and other media projects. Since then they’ve appeared in commercials for the Minnesota State Lottery, The Choo Choo Bob Show, Transylvania Television, John Kovalic’s The Dork Tower Project, and many other places. They also travel the land to various fandom conventions to sell puppets and teach about puppetry. Their web site has much more — and a plethora of pictures. Like this one…

Can fur fiction compete in mainstream?
I have a story which I think is good enough to attempt publishing, but I worry that being a furry myself could be causing me to underestimate the difficulties in selling a story wherecall the characters are anthro animals. What says /r/furry?

My story as a 15 yr old furry and a somewhat open homosexual.(Click to read on)
If you need me to explain parts better then don't be shy and reply in the comments.
I have been a furry for FOUR years now and beginning to get more into it.I found this fandom out at age 12 while watching a few compilation videos on youtube that had furry or anthro art. I loved them and wanted to find more. I typed in what I could think might show up so something like anthro (insert species here) for a few years (like 2-3) what I found that was art was actually the "yiff" art. At age 14 I was getting to know that the fandom wasn't just yiff art and all that. It was more, with fursuiting and stories and RPs music and more! I stopped watching the yiff art and started finding more into the fandom. Age 15 I made a deviantart, furaffinity, furry forums, Reddit, and a few others I can't remember. I wanted to get more into the fandom. I can't do art but I can write and I love filming. At age 15 multiple things happened. I came out about being gay, I told my mother about an interest (furries) and that I wanted to go to a convention that was being held up in my city (not going to name the con nor city or state due to privacy) I explained that its a fandom or a fan group of people who love anthropomorphic art and creatures and go to cons, make music, art , stories, and even dress up in costumes of their characters and species other known as fursuits. She loved the idea (I never told her about how some take it for sexual reasons aka yiff) I am going to the con but without her instead, I am going with an older sibling who somehow already knew of the fandom (wasn't in it) but knew. I told him I wasn't in it as a sexuality and he was fine with that, I told him some call it an odd sub culture and he said that thats fine (not exactly but I'm shortening it) My mother told him about her taking me to the convention but he suggested that he should take me instead due to in case she might be weirded out or might take it the wrong way if anything weird(er) is there or something like that. I told him no 18+ art is allowed there but there are things that could be 18+. I am only going for one day (from what I can tell) which I am happy enough to go for even one day. Does anyone have any tips for say making friends at a furry con or how to act or anything really. I am bringing money so if I want to buy goodies. I also am going to try and take a fun selfie or a pic with some fursuiters (if I can) If any of the ones fursuiting are willing enough to be in a pic with me. If there is any tips or advice or anything really for a first con (because my FIRST con was when I was little and I just wanted to get something and go, I wasn't really having fun from what I could remember I was little so yea) Any advice or comments about my story then you can say what your heart desires. Any other comments are fine. Also I know that in my school/grade I am both of the following the only furry in the school/grade and the only homosexual (that I know of) in my school/grade only a few know of me coming out and the ones who know are fine and supportive.
