Acharky Plays Ninja Blade: Part 1
It's the start of a brand new Let's Play series from yours truly! In this series I take on a lesser known "Ninja Gaiden" clone game called "Ninja Blade". Yeah it seems they could only be bothered to change one word in the title. In any case, watch and be amused as I take you through this character action game!

Furcon 2014!
It's almost that time of the year again. o.o (Last year went by fast I swear.)
So who's going? Should we have a /r/Furries meetup? What are you looking forward to?
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5383452/ Here's that meme thing I did, a friend told me there's apparently no Communist Party this year. Much sadface.
But anyway it could be fun to meet up with some of you guys! I might be suiting, but it's going to be a bit of a thrown together suit that a friend is repairing and it doesn't have handpaws. But I will improvise! (I hope...)

Is This Invitation Creepy? or Just Awkward?
I had something happen to me tonight that requires a little mulling over. Last year I got involved in a community theater production and I met this guy about halfway through the rehearsals. The night I met him it was bad weather and he was nice enough to give me a ride home and we ended up exchanging numbers. Now I merely consider this guy to be an acquaintance, I only saw him sporadically before the opening night performance, and I know very little about him other than he works as a music teacher.
So the production ends at the beginning of May, and oh, about eight months go by and then tonight, the guy in question texts me and asks me if I want to go night sledding with him. I was a little confused at first before I remembered who it was. Well, naturally I was hesitant and I mentioned having to work at the time he wants to meet, but he still insists on meeting up for night sledding. Furthermore, it’s in an area that I don’t know very well. I feel like he’s pushing me to meet up when I hardly even know him. Papa Bear, any advice you have on how to deal with this will be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
A Confused Coon

Hi, Coon,
As Obiwan Kenobi might have said, “Trust your instincts.” That invitation is not at all normal, and you easily sensed that. All kinds of red flags went up, so I think you will agree with me when I say that you should not take him up on this idea of sledding in some area that is unfamiliar to you.
This doesn’t mean that he is necessarily some kind of creepy stalker. It could be that he is simply a socially awkward person who doesn’t know how to set up a first date. Perhaps it took him months to work up the courage to ask you out and he suggested the sledding because it is something he is familiar with.
Either way, your best bet is to politely decline this particular idea, but, if you have any interest in this guy at all—as friends or otherwise—make a counterproposal. Invite him to come along as your guest to a party or other meeting with a group of friends of your own, or perhaps you share some theater friends and you can all do something together.
If he declines your counterproposal, it could be that the initial feeling of suspicion is correct and you should just avoid him. If he accepts, go with it and see where it takes you.
Hope that helps!

Would you believe a full-color funny-animal comic book series coming out of St. Petersburg in Russia? Welcome to the new world, friends! It’s Bo: Plushy Gangsta, heading our way this month (translated into English!) from Action Lab Comics’ Danger Zone imprint. “Are the legends of Bo, the teddy bear gangsta, true? You’re about to find out. When Bo’s girls get nabbed by a rival gang boss, the mysterious and fearsome plushy gangsta is forced into action! It’s Scarface meets Ted in this over-the-top video game style urban epic.” Makes sense, since it was created by video game designers Pavel Balabanov and Vasily Terentiev. Head on over to Action Labs’ Bo web site and check out their new trailer for the series. And trust us: This is not for young readers!

Freebie Sketches?
Well, I want some practice, hopefully soon I'll be commission worthy! So, I'm offering free un-refined sketches, possible with a bit of color. Leave a ref image and I'll get it done! I will accept some descriptions but probably not many. I AM NOT doing all of these. I'll work through them in a few days and hopefully get a good few done, but I'll stop when I see fit -^

Anything to watch out for at my first furry convention?
Alright, so I am attending Further Confusion the week after next week with my mom. I'm super nervous, because this will be my first convention, furry or otherwise, and I won't know what to do. I don't have a suit or any furry merchandise or anything, so I feel like I'll be out of place, especially because I feel like I'm younger than everyone else attending.
I've watched the "Your First Furry Convention" video by Uncle Kage already, and I did learn some things (i.e. to not bother fursuiters by jumping around them and such, eat/drink/sleep as much as I can, etc.), but I can tell that it's mostly intended for older furries because he mentions drinking and such.
Should I be worried about anything? I've heard of people being sexually harassed and stuff at cons, and I don't want anything bad to happen so my mom will let me go to more in the future :S

Offering some free sketches for a while
Here's my fA if you're interested in my art: aarev
I am wanting to do commissions at some point (honestly, I just want enough money to buy Minecraft and DayZ. Has anyone played DayZ? It looks so cool)
But I know no one will hire me unless I get a wider audience and more practice.
So I'm going to offer 4-5 freebies in this thread to practice with. I'll choose characters that interest me if there's high demand, otherwise first-come-first-served. :)
Note: I'm not interested in drawing anything NSFW or sexual

Fergus Wyrm’s art site comparison list
Fergus Wyrm has posted in a Google Doc an extensive comparison of FurAffinity, InkBunny, SoFurry, Weasyl, as well as throwing a few others into the mix such as Tumblr, VCL and DeviantArt for variety and contrast. I don’t have an account with all of the sites so I’ve learnt some differences, especially on the submission end.
I have some amendments I feel are worth mentioning:
FurAffinityFA’s tagging system is limited; you cannot use spaces within a tag else the characters typed afterwards get counted as a separated tag. For instance “Snow Leopard” would become “Snow” and “Leopard”, resulting in artists joining words together which is ugly. Other art sites have addressed this problem, though I can’t remember which.
InkbunnyInkbunny doesn't seem to be making any changes, but it hardly needs any.
I was under the impression a lot of updates take place on Inkbunny relative to FA snail pace schedule of fixes. At least it felt like that in the early days. What would be the criteria to judge whether enough changes are happening? The last bunch of fixes were a fortnight ago.
SoFurrySoFurry allows you to quick preview an image by hovering your mouse over a thumbnail.
On top of having writer friendly features also has reader friendly features. You can hide the sidebar, narrow the content and inverse the colours so you have light text against a dark background (which can be friendly on the eyes instead of having a lot of light beaming out).
SoFurry also includes several applications, including an app for browsing on Android Mobile Phones natively.
Inkbunny & SoFurry APIInkbunny and SoFurry both have public APIs that can be used by developers to create applications that draw in data from their respective websites. Not immediately useful to most people, though there’s cool potential behind it and also displays an attitude of openness when they allow developer-friendly features.
WeasylWeasyl's website is built on the principle of responsively design, that means the layout of the website changes depending on the screen (or browser) dimensions it is viewed on. In other words it is optimised for viewing on mobile phones compared to the other 3 furry art galleries.
SustainabilityMight also be worth comparing how the sites are funded. FA and SoFurry take advertisement revenue. I presume all 4 furry art galleries accept donations. I think it’s the case that FA can make money off affiliate links if users opt-in, not sure if that is the case anymore. It’s something I feel is worth addressing as users ought to be aware of the strategies each site use to stay alive.
