Has anyone had much experience hiring artists for professional work? (Illustrations for childrens books, printing on t-shirts etc...) I'm going to be looking to hire an anthro artist or 2 in the future and I was wondering if anyone had experience in doing that? I'm specifically looking for web banners, avatars, smileys etc.

Anything I need to keep in mind? I'm in a complimentary field and am 100% on board with credit of authorship and giving full permission to the artist to put in a portfolio. I'm not interested in a royalties setup - I would rather need to pay outright.

kittylovesmonster is a great store online that caters to the furry crowd and sadly will be gone soon. I just received an order from them and they sent along an extra bandanimal just because.

so if you want to support a really great little section of the fandom they're not going to be around much longer.

Today, Disney/Marvel released the first official publicity photo from the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film, and it features the clearest view yet of Rocket Raccoon that you don’t have to still-frame to get. They also put out the following synopsis for the movie: “An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora, and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.
