For those who believe we need more publicity.
Due to another user here on Reddit starting and pulling along a grueling topic on furries and the media, I thought it proper to post my own feelings on the matter, so that you all know that there’s at least one hopefully logical thinker out here in the fandom. Who knows, maybe you’ll agree with me? So, Hi. My name is Matthew Brown, or Kalas in the furry fandom. I work with 2 Gryphon on the 2 Sense show. For you fans out there, don’t worry- I’m just as in want of a new episode as you are.
My personal philosophy in the fandom is something that I dubbed the Border Between, or fully, the Border Between Fantasy and Reality. I know this sounds fairly basic, but it’s a concept that keeps me fairly socially acceptable. I have a life, surprisingly. I go to college, I have friends, I plan on getting a stable job and a proper income. These things cannot be openly touched by my furry life en masse. I can mention that I am one, maybe. But that’s as far as it can go. What some people in the fandom do Is openly wear furry accessories- As in, hats, ears, tails, paws- In public, or openly talk about their fetishes and esoteric likes. “Oh, sure, I wrap myself up in leather all the time!” It is in this case that the Border Between is broken. The real world and the fantastical world overlap into each other, causing everyday social heresy. It is imperative to me to keep the Border Between intact, which allows one to openly function as an every-day human being while allowing the furry side of them to be shown on the internet or at specific furry gatherings, such as meets and conventions. Even though these meets might be public, say at a park or something, they are still alright to attend due to the fact that it’s a group of people, and a scheduled event. It’s also not something that you’re doing –absolutely every day-.
The key to my philosophy and keeping up the Border Between lies in this outlets of the fandom, the social meets and online interactions. Keeping the furry lifestyle to myself (aside from people I know IRL who I’ll make passing inside comments to, subtly) on a day-to-day basis keeps my casual living fairly stress-free, at least free of stress caused by discrimination from the fandom.
And that’s about it. Feel free to ask me questions in the comments, but I just thought that with a terrible attention-grabbing voicing of ‘GO BE A FURRY IN PUBLIC AND ON THE NEWS’ that we had a week or two ago on this subreddit… We needed a counteraction. Hopefully you like this one.

If you live in London, like furries and enjoy water here is your chance to have a blast. So I was just informed this crazy fur meet is happening again this year; July 19th to be exact. Check out the link below, because it looks pretty bad-ass with parties and a fur suit walk. In 2011 350 furries showed up to do the walk, which is like a convention by itself.
