Advice wanted: at what point am I justified in canceling a commission?
Over a month ago, an artist who I really like posted a journal on DA linking to the page of a more amateur artist who was doing "emergency commissions" because she had some vet bills to pay. I wasn't really in love with her style, but happened to have a $20 VISA giftcard I didn't need, and so asked her for a $17 commission. She happily accepted the commission. Since then, I found another artist who is willing to do much better work for the same price. I hadn't heard from the original artist in a few weeks - weird, because I'd asked for a simple pencil sketch, which she'd specifically toted as being "very quick" - so I sent her a message asking if we were still on for the commission. She reassured me that we were and that she had been working on it (sort of guilt-tripped me, really).
Well, that was in mid March, and I've not heard from her since. I sent another message almost a week ago asking how things were coming along and poof, nothing. I'd feel terrible canceling on someone who truly needs the money, but frankly I feel like a month and a half for a simple TLK-style pencil sketch is a little ridiculous. How long should I wait before I say/do something?

Finding your fursona?
For weeks now I've been thinking about my fursona (I've loved the furry fandom for years now but simply haven't found myself in it until now). I wanted my fursona to be special and really reflect my personality. I thought about it for weeks and a lioness kept coming to mind, above everything else. To be sure, I had to get a second opinion. I turned to my partner of 5 years (he's been my friend longest/knows me best). Without my prompting, he said that it definitely would have to be a lioness. I'm quite happy and wanted to share :)
/r/furry, how did you find your fursona? How long did it take you? any stories you would like to share? I'm curious!

Florida Super Convention
Attention! Any furries in Florida! There's a convention down in Miami that I've gone to every year for the last two years. I was wondering if other furries attend this convention. If so, would you want to hang out there?

Does anyone know someone who could make custom ears / a tail for $50?
Im going to a convention in the middle of May, and I am short on money. Does anyone know someone who can make good quality tails / ears for $50?
Thanks :D

Cuddles and Old Cartoons
You ever get in the mood to watch one of those old cartoon movies like Robin Hood? You know, the ones that make you want to curl up on the couch with your friends or your mate, share a bowl of popcorn and simply enjoy? Well recently I found a link to one of those old cartoon movies. Ever watch the 1980′s cartoon film Animalympics ? Now it was done in 1980 so it’s a little more, well, 80′s! So if you don’t mind that kind of genre why not give it a try? It might make a great impromptu Wednesday movie night.
Click here for the video on Youtube.
Furries mentioned at 5:00. Science fiction convention documentary circa 2003. Kinda cringeworthy.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL Limited Edition Listed Online
Earlier this morning, a PAL version of the limited edition Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL bundle that had previously been released in Japan, was spotted available for pre-order on the UK shop ShopTo. Since then, it has been removed, predictably because it has not even yet been announced for a European or North American release.
ShopTo had listed the bundle at £189.85 and with a release date of June 14th, the same day New Leaf is dropping.
The bundle also included a copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a pre-installed digital download.
In what can't just be a coincidence, the listing comes just a day before a new 3DS-focused Nintendo Direct conference. We'll keep you updated on whether they announce this bundle then, and if it will be arriving in the States.

Wolves After The Fall
Creative Mind Energy (CME) describe themselves as “a creative consortium of artists, designers, inventors, story-tellers and writers who pool their educations, talents and creative abilities to bring outstanding new products to all media markets and industries”. To that end they have several comic book series in various stages of development — and several of them are Furry in nature. First up is The Gifted, a largely black & white comic book with water-color style illustrations. According to the CME blog, “The Gifted is set in a dystopian future, in which humans have devastated the earth. What animals remain endure a barren, dangerous existence, constantly being hunted and exterminated by man. But some of the animals find themselves gifted with sophisticated intelligence and the power of speech, and rise up against man to protect their earth.” The first issue will be available at their on-line store soon. Visit their web site to find out more about this and other upcoming titles.
