Hey everyone, I've lurked around the fandom for far too long and finally decided I would just post something to make myself stop thinking about finally posting something. I've been interested in furry stuff for a few years now but always felt awkward about being a part of it myself for some reason. Lately however I've decided to just go for it and here I am now. So for my first post here I just had a couple of questions for anyone here who wants to respond.

First off, I love playing video games but only have a couple of friends that play very often, so I was wondering if anyone would be up for some gaming? I kind of figured it would be a good way for me to get to possibly know some people around here and it is something that I am familiar with and enjoy. Anyways I have a handful of Steam games that I want to play more of (Chivalry, TF2, Left 4 Dead 2, and maybe a few others) and am willing to try out new games if there are any suggestions. Also I have Xbox Live but for the most part only play Call of Duty or Halo 4 in terms of multiplayer games. Once again though open to any new ideas. My tag for both Steam and Xbox is "Woof26" so you can add me if you like or leave your name here and I'll send you a request. If I get a random request I'll assume it is from someone here but please either leave a comment here or send me a message saying what your tag is just so I know.

Second, I have been trying to think of an animal to use to make my own fursona. I tend to like things that aren't really that popular, so my mind is telling me to avoid picking something like a wolf or dog, but I really don't know what I will choose yet. I was wondering if anyone here knows of some neat creatures or has any ideas of awesome animals so that I can broaden my range of choices with?

Anyways thanks for reading through this and I'll do my best to stick around here and not fall back into my old lurking habits.

I suppose one of the major reasons I became a furry was because of the fact that I feel uncomfortable drawing human faces. It's not that I don't have the technical skill--I could draw a face, given a reasonable amount of time and a reference photo. I can't quite put my finger on why I feel this way, but I guess I want to know a how you guys feel on a few things:

1) Have you felt this way? 2) Did you overcome it? 3) If you have been able to overcome this, how do you feel about your connection to the fandom? Has it strengthened or weakened it?

I, personally, opt for the "safe for pup" roleplay situations. Like... adventuresome stuffs, snuggles, etcetera. Safe for work... ish. PG-13.

Do you know of anywhere where I could do such a thing/meet people who would like to? And/or would /youuuuuuu/, valuable redditfur, like to participate in such thingsssss?

Hi, papa bear.

How appropriate the advice site is named papa bear, for the question I have to ask you has precisely to do with that.

I lost my papa when I was around 2 years old [Papabear note: he is 20 now] and since then I've been looking to have someone be a paternal figure to me. Along with that, I've been experiencing strong urges to recreate my early childhood of which I barely have memories. In other words I want to have my papa back, I want to get my early childhood back, I want to laugh all my cares away, redo my life like it was a crayon-drawn sketch.

It's a really cute and adorable dream depicted like that; however, it always hardens a knot to my chest (one I have since I turned 13) and I can't help to tear up at times.

I want to grow up as a person in society, be mature and fit in. But I don't want to let go of the childish traits that are part of me. What do I do?

Dear Kyu,

I am so sorry for your loss—a hard thing to go through for any child, not to mention your mother, who, it sounds like, did not remarry and had to raise you by herself. It’s understandable that you would want to regain something you lost that should have been a part of you. Now that you are 20, though, it’s a bit late to be adopted by a father, although there are a lot of furries out there (and nonfurries) who really have a strong need to pal around with older men as mentors and father figures.

While you don’t want to pull a Michael Jackson, which would be rather scary, there is no reason you can’t indulge your inner child now and then. That could be a reason why you are a furry. A lot of the stuff that goes with being a furry is very childlike—loving cartoons, dressing up as an animals and such—so I bet you really enjoy that.

Note that I use the word “childlike” and not “childish.” Childish is a word that means immaturity, a state often characterized by selfishness, tantrums, and not being able to deal with adult life. Childlike means having a wonderful, colorful imagination, enjoying the ability to play and have fun, being honest and open, have a sense of wonder about the world.

You may have had to grow up too fast in life and missed some opportunities to play, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun as an adult. Look at me and other greymuzzles like me: I’m 47 and dress up as a bear! Most adults would say I’m nuts. I say I’m playful. At the same time, I work hard, pay bills, and do “responsible” stuff.

You can be both childlike and an adult, Kyu. I’m a living example of that. In fact, being a childlike furry will keep you young, I seriously believe, and make your adult life easier to get through. In the meantime, no law says you can’t find a mentor, a father figure in your life. I have a couple in mine who have helped me a lot over the years who have helped me both psychologically and spiritually.

So, Kyu, be responsible. Hold down a job, pay your taxes, and all that boring stuff. But also embrace your childlike side. Many adults don’t and this is the result:

Hi there :D

We have a small community chatroom used for roleplaying (both sexual and nonsexual) and are looking for new members! Our room can be found here

We are hoping to find members who are wanting to make friends and have fun without starting drama. The fandom being what it is, we have many gamers in our ranks (TF2 being very popular, as well as Pokemon, the Legend of Zelda series, etc.)

Our population is, as yet, fairly small. We consist of 20-25 regular visitors however our visiting hours are staggered so that there's generally only a small handful of people online at the same time during "off peak" hours. We have members across the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

Our room is available to all users, although with the content being sexual in nature sometimes we would like to keep the age line to mid/upper teens and above. We have a small team of moderators who enforce our sparing list of rules. These rules are:

1) Please respect your fellow housemates

2) Occasionally the moderators will host in-room events. You may not "god mod" these events. This will result in a silence or kick.

3) If you are being obnoxious, rude, disrepsectful, or anything of this type you might be warned either in public or by PM by a moderator. After 3 "strikes" you will be removed. If your offenses were enough to merit one, a ban will be issued. All kicks/silences/bans are subject to review, of course.

4) You may only have one character in this chat. If you wish to "swap mains" please speak with an admin or moderator.

As an aside- If you are engaging in yiff that is someone offcolor or disruptive to the group as a whole you may be asked to enter a seperate room. As with any sexual setting there are always acts or fetishes that are "looked down" upon but our team of moderators is intent on keeping a fair and level playing ground for all members. Asking you to move to another room is not meant as a sign of disrespect or personal issue, just a measure to keep the room as a fun place for everyone. Likewise, if you are in an argument with someone a moderator may silence both "guilty" parties and request you to join a seperate room to hash out the details of your argument alone. These seperate rooms are not "premium" Chatzy rooms, but we do make it a point to go back and wipe the history so that they remain somewhat private.
