So I've had a few friends who were furries in my life, but never really looked into it. I was vaguely aware of something called a "fursona" and that was about it.

Decided today to just dive headlong into the furry community and see what it's like. There are no membership fees, after all.

First I went to FA, as it was the only furry site I knew of (aside from the anthro tag on deviantArt). I knew it was down before, but saw the admin's note saying it was back up. Then I tried to register and got a blank screen.

It was then that the thought occurred, "Hey, Reddit!" and here I am.

Anyway, hi.

What all do I need to know?

Hello fellow furries and or bronies i am here to let you know that this xmas i am hopefully getting an animation program called toonboom studio 4, once i have that (with you're help or my parents help) i will be able to animate what ever. I'm most likely gonna start with some thing simple for my first video(like an intro saying what I'm gonna do.)I honestly don't know why i feel the need to tell you guys all this, because probably none of you care but i just felt like it SO if you want to help my dream come true please, please, submission or give me money(submission means you get art in return),thank you

So yeh I’m sure more than just myself are going through a withdraw from FurAffinity . Some might even be sitting home sweating, rocking back and forth and muttering “must post… must post”.  But if you think it’s bad for just checking things, imagine my hardship. Almost 80% of this sites content comes from posts and pics on FA. So please bear (husky) with the posts to the site, if they seem a little different and not well related to your fav. artists/writers you know why. If you feel you need enlightenment in the naughtiness factor make sure you check NightlyFurBlog which is this sites after dark account on Twitter.

I would love hubby to dress as a squirrel. I have no desire to dress as an animal myself. I like the idea of the tactility of the fur especially a big bushy tail. Does this make me a furry ?

Also I was wondering what it is that appeals to those that choose to dress as animals. Is it the feel of the fur or the idea of being an animal. My desire for hubby to dress as a squirrel is very sexual I understand this isn't always the case. I just wondered if there were others like me that just liked the tactility of it. Thanks

Hello r/furry , This is my first post on here* and one of my first true actual Reddit posts actually*. I was basically wondering what the title describes, how do you handle telling people outside the internet, your interest/involvement in the furry community, if they inquire and or if you wish to go about telling them? I would also like to apologize in advance if their is any similar posts such as this in this subreddit. I have not immediately seen any worded in this manner. Just wanting to know your opinions. * Edit:Wow!I honestly didn't have too much expectations in terms of how things would turn out when I first posted this, but I was surprised by all the great feedback I have gotten so far. Thanks r/furry! :D I already feel more at ease with how I will handle things! *

I was wandering around today and it occurred to me that we seem to have a lot of image threads here. Now, there's nothing wrong with that, after all, visual art is a part of the furry community. Yet, isn't it possible that we could also do with more discussion topics in r/furry? For example, what furry means to you? After all, we all call ourselves furries, but I'm sure that our interpretations of that differ greatly.

Just some food for thought.

Irish Furry here. Never met a single other Furry in real life, and really only found the fandom through my first ever game: Starfox. I started drawing Furry Art and writing a bit of Furry Literature as well about a year or so back. Here's a link to my stuff: http://retal19.deviantart.com/
