Finding a las vegas fur?

Furry Reddit - Sat 19 Mar 2011 - 01:35

So just today I saw the first group of furries I have ever seen in real life at a KFC in las vegas. One was in a full blown blue and gray fox or wolf fursuit, another had just a red fox tail , and the last guy didn't have anything, they were all around 17 to 19 years old I'd guess. now the reason I post this is because I would love to meet some more furs in real life but I was too shy and with other people that were creped out by them for me to go up and say hi. So what would be the best way of finding this group or just meeting more furs were I live?

Chicago Furs?

Furry Reddit - Fri 18 Mar 2011 - 22:46

I just moved up to Chicago (living in Pilsen now) and it turns out that either Chicago furs are hard to find, or I just suck at finding them. I tried the tried and true methods of looking on Pounced and the IFPL but still nothing, so I figured I'd give this place a go. Any chicago furs on reddit?

Digger’s journey comes to an end

Furry News Network - Fri 18 Mar 2011 - 12:54

Author: GreenReaper

Digger, by Ursula VernonUrsula Vernon‘s ‘Digger of Unnecessarily Complex Tunnels’ has completed her journeys. [tip: chelImQo']

For the last six months or so, I have been very focused on finally finishing Digger’s unexpectedly epic journey (some of you undoubtedly remember those first five pages, and my constant refrain that I was just doodling and not to get attached!) but I didn’t actually spend much time thinking about what to say once I did.

I guess the only thing to say is “Thank you!”

Digger won the 2005 Web Cartoonists’ Choice Awards for ‘Outstanding Black and White Art’, and was snominated in several other categories in 2005 and 2007. Recent strips will be collected and published by Sofawolf Press as vol. 6 in the series.

Interesting St Patties day. It turns out one of my friends/co-workers may be a furry.

Furry Reddit - Fri 18 Mar 2011 - 09:25

So here is the backstory... We were out for drinks last night with my work buddies for St Patties. We get a few beers in, end up talking about typical nonesense until the conversation got to funny kinky things we've all done. He pulled up a picture of himself in a hooded panda outfit on his iPhone...! I asked him, "Dude... Are you a furry?!?!" He went BRIGHT red, and backtracked saying no no no, it's called 'Kigurumi.' (I think. I tried googling it.) We prodded him a bit for more info, but he had such a 'Busted' look on his face that we let him off the hook easy. Looked cute as a panda though.

So fill me in Furries... Is this guy a furry, or do people just like wearing panda costumes for fun?

Edit: Found out a bit more info this weekend. While he might not nessesarily be 'A furry', he certainly has some leanings that way. We're out on the fence if his girlfriend was a driving force to it. Double bonus is they are a cute little furry couple

Japanese dog stays by injured canine comrade after disaster

Author: ringtailedfox

We’ve been hearing of the horrible tragedy in Japan over the past week caused by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami and nuclear meltdowns at the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Plant, but there is one story of hope from the striken oriental nation: rescue workers discovered a dog guarding a fellow dog that was injured in the earthquake.

At first, the dog would not let rescue workers near its friend, but they were able to gradually bring the injured dog to an animal hospital in the city of Mito. The guardian dog was taken to a different shelter in the city; both are recieving medical treatment for their ordeals.

FX announces “Wilfred” Sitcom featuring anthropamorpic dog

Furry News Network - Fri 18 Mar 2011 - 08:44

Wilfred is yet another Americanized comedy adaptation, this time coming from the Australian show of the same name. The original was broadcast down under in 2007, with a second season airing just last year. Wilfred is based on a 2002 short film by comedy duo Adam Zwar and Jason Gann. Zwar has been replaced by Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the forthcoming prequel The Hobbit) for the American version, but Gann will reprise his role from the original series as Wilfred the pseudo-anthropomorphic dog.

The premise for Wilfred is without a doubt the weirdest to appear on TV in a long time. Ryan (Wood) is a neurotic, depressed man whose neighbor (Fiona Gublemann, Californication) asks him to watch her dog during the afternoons. The dog, at least from Ryan/the audience’s point of view, is a full-grown man in a bad costume. Ryan struggles to keep Wilfred under control as he begins to question his grip on reality.

Furry Reddit - Fri 18 Mar 2011 - 06:20

The server is live and I'm building the spawn. So It's on private "beta" right now while I configure it.

I'd love to hear suggestions on Bukkit plugins you'd like to see. So just leave a comment and I'll see what I can do.

The only requirement is to keep in mind that this is survival and It should be a somewhat of a challenge. (not too much, but not too easy either).

Thanks!

Song of the Sea

In-Fur-Nation - Fri 18 Mar 2011 - 01:59

A Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all. And speaking of Irish things…

Thanks to Cartoon Brew we’ve seen a new teaser trailer for Song of the Sea, the next project coming to us from Tomm Moore, creator of The Secret of Kells. That film, you may recall, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature of 2009, as well as a slew of other awards around town. Now Mr. Moore’s new feature looks at another well-known Irish legend, that of the Selkies: Folk who look like human beings, but who can put on seal skins and magically transform into real live seals. Cartoon Saloon is currently animating the film, which is not due out until 2013.

PETA Saves 240 Cats, Then Kills 120

Furry News Network - Thu 17 Mar 2011 - 12:44

The furry fandom’s good, although sometimes manic and radical, friend PETA has struck a major blow against animal cruelty this month.

After a lengthy 6-month investigation, officials in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, have captured and removed over 240 cats from capture. Their prison, an unventilated storage facility under the surname, “Sacred Vision Animal Sanctuary.” The owner and operator of the animal sanctuary is one Elizabeth Owen. Owens, according to PETA, “made no effort to find homes for the cats… [and] showed every indication that she is an animal hoarder.” The facility Owens ran housed over 300 cats all stuffed into wire boxes, four cats to a box. One litter box was given per crate and the cats were never allowed to roam free. These atrocities sparked PETA to report Owns to local authorities. Owens was convicted of animal cruielty in September of last year. It was not until March 1st that the cats were seized from their prison. 30 of the cats had died and 30 of the remaining 270 cats were considered “Owen’s personal pets” and were released back into her custody.

This story may seem like a cut and dry story of heroism. Evil cat hoarder, noble PETA swoops in to save the day, and 240 cats go free. However, there is a major rub to this story that some find shocking. Out of the 240 cats rescued, only 120 of them are alive as of now – due to the “noble” act of euthanizeing the cats. PETA wrote on their website, “Roughly half of the 240 or so cats that were seized fromOwen’s storage units were put out of their misery because of conditions such as anal maggots, herpes, ringworm, tumors, seizures, multiple abdominal abscesses, cracked and bloody paw pads, severe gum disease and missing teeth, – all things that cause pain and discomfort and that don’t happen overnight. These cats had long been languishing with no quality of life. For them, death was a release from a bad life of containment, stress, and pain. They are in a kinder place.”

After reading this, many were shocked. “I was with them until they decided to kill nearly half of the animals rescued. I understand them wanting to put the cats out of their misery, but some of those things were treatable. If they had cracked paw pads, those would heal! There is no reason for an animal who is suffering from a non-lethal ailment, which can be healed quickly with medicine, should be put to death!” a very alarmed furry said.

As a counterpoint, some Furries agree completely with PETA’s choice of action. “I condone and congratulate PETA for their unrelenting war on animal cruelty. This is a major blow and huge example to all animal abusers. On the subject of their decision to release the cats from their pain, I again congratulate them. Those cats had been through enough. They needed to be sent home to their Creator. As PETA said, ‘These cats had no quality of life!’” another fur explained.

“What else is new? PETA saves a bunch of animals from captivity, then “frees” them again from their physical prisons. They’ve been doing this for years,” an apathetic fur commented.

The question raised now is, was it right for PETA to euthanize all those animals? Or was it an act of mercy? You decide.

The full article from PETA, as well as the heart-wrenching photos of the cats and their prison, is available at http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/Hundreds-of-Cats-Suffer-and-Die-at-Hoarder-s-Warehouse.aspx

Comment of the Day: a4Ballad of Nessiea4 Production Notes

furryne.ws - Wed 16 Mar 2011 - 21:57
"This short film is based off of Stevie's (one of the directors) ideas she had come up with while back at CalArts I believe. The style is meant to be flat. The character animation was traditionally done on paper as well as the cleanup. The effects were done using Toon Boom and were drawn on Cintiq's the same way we did all of the effects on PATF. All ink and paint and comp was done in Toon Boom as well. I even used maya (3d) on a couple of shots but you would never know it by the way it was treated in Toon Boom. I believe Joe Mildenberger (2d efx) used After Effects with Toon Boom for one of

Review: Verbinski's 'Rango' puts the ugly back in 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'

furryne.ws - Wed 16 Mar 2011 - 20:46
"Rango is Verbinski's eighth film; previous work includes such oddities as Mousehunt (which furry fans may be somewhat familiar with), the American remake of The Ring (one of Bravo's "100 Scariest Movie Moments" selections), and the three released Pirates of the Caribbean movies - the third of which made him one of only four directors to gross over a billion dollars at the box office (putting him in the company of Peter Jackson, Christopher Nolan and Ursa Major Award-winning James Cameron). In other words, Verbinski is a director to watch. But does Rango live up to some of his previou
