Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 10 Oct 2010 - 12:28

Celebrated humorist and essayist David Sedaris has a new hardcover short story collection out entitled Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary. In essence, it’s a collection of new Aesop’s fables, but told with Sedaris’ unique wit. Here’s the description from Amazon.com: “Featuring David Sedaris’s unique blend of hilarity and heart, this new collection of keen-eyed animal-themed tales is an utter delight. Though the characters may not be human, the situations in these stories bear an uncanny resemblance to the insanity of everyday life. In “The Toad, the Turtle, and the Duck,” three strangers commiserate about animal bureaucracy while waiting in a complaint line. In “Hello Kitty,” a cynical feline struggles to sit through his prison-mandated AA meetings. In “The Squirrel and the Chipmunk,” a pair of star-crossed lovers is separated by prejudiced family members. With original illustrations by Ian Falconer, author of the bestselling Olivia series of children’s books, these stories are David Sedaris at his most observant, poignant, and surprising.” It’s also available as an audio book read by the author and others.

Furries Dipping Their Paws Into TBN?

Furries In The Media - Sat 9 Oct 2010 - 15:24
lj-embed id=337 /br /br /br /I was channel surfing ran across this show on TBN (The Trinity Broadcasting Network)br /Im wondering if some furry has something to do with this because the main character, a male bear, has Heterochromia (one blue eye, one brown). I know Heterochromia is fairly common in the fandom.br /br /Its very uncommon in any mainstream cartoon character unless they are ultra toony wacky. But this bear is just as normal as can be. And what makes it stranger is that its on a Christian network.br /br /a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paws_%26_Taleshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paws_%26_Tales/abr /The wikipedia doesnt have much on it, and Im having trouble finding much about the show.

Pack Away Your Wolves and Foxes…

In-Fur-Nation - Thu 7 Oct 2010 - 17:19

Yes, it’s Halloween season… but with stores already starting to think about Christmas, we thought we might help you out with a little pre-holiday shopping. Something we stumbled across thanks to FurAffinity.net: Ikea has these interesting wolf-and-fox themed desk organizers (about 12-inches tall together) for sale, called Barnslig Ringdans (“Childish Ring Dance”). Note the interesting art style. The Ikea ad proudly notes that together they hold 52 CD’s!
