Hello to all! About a week ago I finally decided that I was a furry after about a year of closeting myself, I was hoping I could introduce myself to the community and I have a few questions if anyone doesn't mind answering!

1. On the site Fur Affinity I've noticed that ref sheets are common, do I need to get someone to make a ref sheet before I can ask for a normal commission? (Feel free to tease if I'm just overthinking this one. :P)

2. Is it difficult to fit in with the community if you are new?

3. I am currently still living with parents, and recently ran into an awkward situation where my mother asked me what a furry was when I asked if I could go to an upcoming convention near me in April, I kinda froze up and the only thing I could think of was "It's basically for people who like stuff like Lion King and Loony Toons." She apparently didn't like the idea of me going due to her beliefs that most people who go to conventions are costume wearing sex hungry weirdos but I managed to convince her that I can go. I love her to death and I don't want her to think of me any different, is there any better way I could explain to both of my parents and avoid them thinking of me differently?

Hello everyone! I just want to say that I was quite surprised to find there is a furry community on Reddit (about a few weeks new to the site) and rather impressed by how large this community is. I was introduced to the fandom about 4 months back and it has become a quickly picked-up hobby.

In short, I'm glad to have stumbled upon this community and would like to make some friends online and perhaps locally.
