About a month ago my friend and his mom "were concerned" and so they told my parents that I am a furry. I found out that they told my parents that the furry fandom consists mostly of sexual deviants. My dad was furious and my mom cried for the rest of the day and wouldn't talk to me for a couple weeks. My mom also told me I am going to have to find somewhere else to live. They were both furious to find out that I would wear a tail and a collar in public; I have them hidden so that my parents don't throw them away. Fortunately, since then, things have calmed down. Now I am no longer allowed to be active in the fandom as long as I'm living in their house. For about a year I was going to meetup groups and my parents had no idea that they were furry meetup groups. I haven't talked to my friend since. I in no way take part in the 'adult' part of the fandom, so that's not an issue. All in all, it sucks

Edit: They also searched and found my FA account and other furry accounts, which I then had to either hide or delete.

He thinks that I do the do with animals, and all that jazz. He doesn't realize that it's not about that. I told him a while ago about furries but I guess he wasn't paying attention?

Ahem. I have 2 questions for y'all. First, how can I help him understand? And second, how has your parent(s) taken to you being furry?

Hey all,

I haven't been active on this sub in quite a while, and today I figured I would unsubscribe, because I barely even browsed it. I usually ask myself why I'm un-subscribing from a subreddit. Most are easy, but for some reason this was harder for me. I guess it just felt like I was leaving a community behind. Now, I don't go around calling myself a furry in everyday life, but when I'm online, it's fun to occasionally browse some art. I guess what I'm trying to say is you're all great, but I don't need you anymore.

November of last year(the reason I made this account), I was a new furry, and was ready to dive head first into whatever I could. But now, I've found my connection with the furry community was to be a constant grab at free art, making weirdly infantalizing conversation with random internet strangers, and porn. It was comforting for a while I guess, having an echo chamber of hugs and fuzziness, but at a certain point I just couldn't keep up the charade of thinking people were "Kyute!!! uwu" No offense to the people who like it, but it gets kinda tiring.

Anyway, I'm done rambling about this, and I wish you all the best. I don't know if /u/pakarido or /u/sareii or ringgar or any of the other furries I knew are still here, but thanks a bunch to all of you collectively for being a part of my past, and who knows, maybe even my future. I took a few requests on DA the other day to try some OC's and what not. I tried to sketch them all out for practice and I feel like something about the way I drew them is not quite right. (top image is sort of nsfw) http://imgur.com/a/37e7B Of course DA is kind of dead and I haven't gotten any feedback from the ORs and on FA I think the favorites were just in passing as I uploaded them. I'd really like to try taking commissions but I don't think anyone would want to with they way my art currently looks. Or best case am I really over thinking it?
