One of the positive changes this fandom has gone through over the years is fursuits becoming slightly more common place yet there seems to be a rather negative side effect to this: Some people think you're not a 'proper' furry unless you have one.

Look-It's not an elite 'club' where you're only allowed to call yourself furry unless you spend tons of money on a suit. You are the only one who gets to define what furry means to you. Nobody has the power to kick you out of the fandom if you don't go about being a furry the way they think you should.

Those who would look down on you or deem you not a furry because you define it in a different way than they do or lack qualities or things they feel you should possess in order to call yourself one aren't worth your time or consideration.

There are no gatekeepers here. Those who try to be are just trapping themselves within prisons of ignorance by shutting out those who might otherwise add so much more diversity and meaning to their lives.

Hello guys, I am sorta new to the furry community and by sorta, I mean openly admitting it to my friends and family, I started off by telling my family and they let me go to Anthrocon and it was a blast! But on the other hand im losing friends due to the fact of me being a furry, apparently some of my "friends" despise furries, and I was just looking to talk to new people and meet fellow furries are there any Skype or TS groups around here for doing such a thing? ~Thanks -Jikyoshi
