My "fursona" is just a representation of myself as an anthro. Same nose piercing, same personality, same crazy hair/mane/whatever. I never intended to create a "character," just the design that I might inhabit in Parallel Universe Furry.

Now, I assumed that that's what a fursona was to everyone until quite recently, when I noticed a couple of artists who had fursonas who they portrayed all the time, as well as more minor characters that they would describe as "me" or "representative of me."

So what's the most common? Is your fursona someone that you'd like to be? Is it someone different from you that you'd like to have as a friend? Or is it just...you? When I say "fursona," what do most of you think of?

Because I love furry art. It's some of the most beautiful stuff I've ever seen. Are there books I should pick up, how to draw? I want to create a fursona, and I'm not that great of an artist, but you all have inspired my rise into artistdom at the age of twenty one!

And furrydom? (Am I just creating words now?)

I have pieces of art I'm in the middle of drawing that are furry-themed in orientation, contain sexual activity, but I'm not really certain they belong on /r/yiff.

Id est, they're using sex as the subject of a painting (it's a fascinating subject and this is one of the only communities to be perfectly open about it), and not a painting designed to aid masturbation. Like, Egon Schiele had sex-themed artwork, so does Giger, and they're perfectly NSFW, but they're not porn, they're not erotic, the sexual depiction's used as a genre like landscape or portraiture...

So, if they were to go onto /r/yiff, they'd be downvoted into oblivion, since they contain sex but they're not erotic. Would, in that case, it be cool to submit them as NSFW to /r/furry, what's your take on this? What should I do?
