Should Flayrah feature selected fiction, like 'Anthro'?

Those unfamiliar with Anthro can check it out here.

I normally direct writers seeking publication towards it, but the magazine has not published a new issue for almost a year.

According to Ralan.com, Anthro is on hiatus until further notice. (Though it would be nice to have an announcement to that effect on the site itself.)

Writers seeking publication can also find possible markets for furry fiction via the Furry Writers' Market, in the left-hand column here:

As for Flayrah, as much as I'd like more markets for furry fiction (especially if might pay at least a token rate), I'd rather see this stay a news/opinion site too, as I think that's a niche it's better suited to fill.

Can you think of any ways in which we can provide a service to furry writers without leaving our current niche?

For example, we could display quotes from furry writing in our sidebar (if we had some), or an Amazon sales widget.

I've added the furry book reviews LJ to our footer.
Edit: And rustled up an Amazon widget with over 200 furry works.

Everything I can think of seems more based on the user-contributed content side of things -- more book reviews (especially of lesser-known authors/books/presses in the fandom), maybe a roundup every few months of new releases (the way it's done with the comics), and so forth. I can't really think of anything else at the moment as far as the actual structure of the site or featured elements.

Well, if you ever happen to have some content of that type to hand (and I know with NaNoWriMo Camp this is absolutely not the time :-), feel free to login and submit it!

The aborted chat comment was basically "Uh, Okami is awesome and all, but who, exactly, is the furry author we'd be supporting?"

Oh, I just threw that in there because it had wolves. Everyfur likes wolves, right?

Wolves are overrated.

They're just dogs who haven't figured it out yet.

:-| disappoint.

I think Flayrah should stay news-based. There are many other sites that are better suited for people that want to submit stories and such.

"If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind."

just stumbled across this site after stumbling across an article on furries made by bbc news in 2009. Having been a fur for 5 years and only just learned that your site exists, I would say keep it news based, its very intriguing thus far. Also, perhaps marketing tools and advertisement are in need to further involve fandom members.
Good luck with the site, and if i read a few more interesting features, i may join, and be tempted to buy a book to show my support.

Technically, it doesn't have to be a book - it works for anything you put in the cart in the next 24 hours after clicking a tagged link. So if you feel like making any major purchases, and want to support the site at no cost to yourself . . .

I'm glad you like the site, and I hope you find the recent and upcoming features to your interest!
