Proving their creative bankruptcy further, Disney's sequel-machine has apparently shown signs of running dry. So, instead of writing an original script, what do we get instead? Amusement park ride-themed movies!

Aside from The Country Bears due this summer 2002, Eddie Murphy is negotiating to star in "Haunted Mansion."

From what I've read, Disney never intended "Country Bears" to be anything more than a throwaway, possibly direct-to-video movie. But the results (thanks to Henson's puppets and the screenwriters) supposedly ended up being so successful that Disney's gone haywire, greenlighting a sequel as well as movies based on the "Haunted Mansion" and "Pirates of the Carribbean" rides. We'll see.
