Just curious, what's with the concept of 'belonging' to other furries?
Note: This post is not related to that other post about 'adopting' characters.
I've seen on a couple of FA pages that someone 'belongs to' another FA member. And some pictures have leashes in them. (Like this very recent one) Being a new-ish furry, I have absolutely no idea what's up with this. I was hoping that some people could clear this up for me.
On a related note, what circumstances would somefur own another fur, as far as fiction goes? Would it be a debt? Did the owner pay for their pet? (Maybe at a pound or something?)
TL;DR How does a fur get 'owned' by another? Both in real life and fur-fic.

Do people actually buy into the adoptable thing?
If you create adoptables can you explain this to me? How can you copy and paste the same lineart 3 or 4 times, paint them up with different color themes and then sell each one for money?
I'm trying to make sense of this.
