A Look Back: Steve Carell Talks to Assinio about Anthropomorphic Erotica

Furry News Network - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 17:49

A look back in history: Columbus Day Weekend, 2000 in Arlington, VA, Comedy Central’s Daily Show with John Stewart sent their reporter, Steve Carell, to see what Gaylaxicon was all about. They missed interviewing the 2 fursuiters in attendance, but they did interview a couple of Furry artists.

While the audience could be heard laughing as the clip aired on the show, Steve Carell was very composed, and didn’t break character, even as Assinio explained “Anthropomorphic Erotica”.

Furry News Network - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 16:35

Author: AppleCider

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today, Eurobeat Brony came by and we talked a lot about music. In the process, we converted Jehovah’s Witnesses into the herd, did some impromptu age speculations, and even learned to appreciate dubstep just a little bit. And as always, our fans are super awesome and cool and should totally hang out with us more.

Sincerely,
AppleCider

Video: The Magic of Fursuiting

Furry News Network - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 16:23

As a new feature, we’re going to start selecting a video to feature each week. This video will be the first in the series.
As a fursuiter myself, I found this video to be an excellent insight to why many fursuiters love being in suit.  Take a look, and share your own thoughts below.

The Magic of Fursuiting

This video is a celebration of the wonderful “magic” that happens when ordinary people put on animal costumes and bring happiness and joy to others, particularly children. Unlike (most) adults, kids still have the capacity to imagine that the fursuiter is not a hot, sweaty performer baking in a suit – but a cartoon character, or maybe their favorite stuffed animal, come to life.

All the quotes used in this video were obtained directly from the fursuiters themselves from our local group up here in the greater Seattle area.

Group Plans to Get Westboro Baptist Church to Protest Furry Conventions

Furry News Network - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 15:26

[Editors note:  Normally, I toss out any user submitted trolling information as it normally involves party X trolling party Y on Youtube or some local forum, and the latest furry getting butt-hurt because someone told them to "yiff in hell" or called them a "furfag".  This is typical and in no way news worthy.  If, however, there is activity to get a group like WBC involved in trolling furries, that, I feel, at least deserves a heads up to those running and attending Furry conventions across the country.]

06/08/2011

Submitted By: Malaki

Users of the forums at Kongregate don’t like furries.  One group plans on taking the hatred and trolling to 9000.

http://www.kongregate.com/forums/2-off-topic/topics/175685-op-when-lolcows-collide

Mission: get WBC to protest outside a furry convention

What this will accomplish:
1. the furries will get butthurt
2. if the furries try to retaliate, they will lose to WBC in court.
3. due to WBC being media whores, this will throw furries into the public eye

HOW WE CAN DO THIS:
1. find out when the next furry convention is
2. Inform the WBC that there is a convention for GAY ATHEISTS who SODOMIZE ANIMALS
3. Give them the location and date
4. WATCH FOR THE LULZ

So who is Westboro Baptist Church?  Here’s Wikipedia’s info on WBC:

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is an independent Baptist church known for its extreme stance against homosexuality and its protest activities, which include picketing funerals and desecrating the American flag. The church is widely described as a hate group and is monitored as such by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center. It is headed by Fred Phelps and consists mostly of members of his large family; in 2007, it had 71 members. The church is headquartered in a residential neighborhood on the west side of Topeka about three miles west of the Kansas State Capitol at 3701 West 12th Street,Topeka, KansasUnited States. Its first public service was held on the afternoon of Sunday, November 27, 1955.

The church has been actively involved in the anti-gay movement since at least 1991 when it sought a crackdown on homosexual activity at Gage Park six blocks northwest of the church. In addition to anti-gay protests at military funerals, the organization pickets other celebrity funerals that are likely to get it media attention.

The WBC is not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations. The church describes itself as following Primitive Baptist and Calvinist principles, though mainstream Primitive Baptists reject the WBC and Phelps.

Review: Hamster Rage

Furry News Network - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 14:49

Hamster Rage is an interesting beast by writer and artist Brian J. Crowley. It’s a webcomic featuring an anthropomorphic super powered hamster with a penchant for trench coats and cheese. Nevertheless, the lead character isn’t what makes this an odd read. It is the feeling that so much more is going on beyond the scenes than the reader is privy to. The first introductory batch, available online or in a recently released paper issue, features Roosevelt, the titular raging hamster, alongside a boatload of supporting characters duking it out in the streets of Chicago, featuring a number of landmarks familiar to people who frequent Montrose between Ashland and Clark.

Taking a chance on the Ironclaw Role Play system.

Furry Reddit - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 12:10

Some people would have me believe that Ironclaw is more than just a gimmicky system that relies on a niche crowd to pick it up. While I've never personally met anyone who's given it a whirl, I consistently read reviews that state it has a seamless combat system. I'm hosting a session for a group of friends, all of whom are either willing to look past the fact that it's a furry role play or happen to be furries themselves. The whole idea is to see if it's a solid system, so I figured that this would be an excellent place to gather more info before I get started this week. Have any of you guys given it a shot?

animal xxxing

furryne.ws - Wed 8 Jun 2011 - 05:30
nintendo’s animal crossing is a series of games in which players settle in and inhabit videogame villages; over the course of typically years, players maintain the town, find ways to earn money, buy and sell possessions, remodel and decorate their homes, assemble and design wardrobes, and interact with a revolving cast of animal neighbors. in addition to service characters that appear in every animal crossing town, there are 210 different animal characters in animal crossing, divided across 34 different species, who can move into a town as residents – up to eight at a time. these characters will talk to, trade with, and solicit work from the player characters, who live in the animal town as humans.

rule 34 is a long-standing internet folk rule: “if it exists, there’s porn of it.” rule 34 is also a website, rule34.paheal.net (warning: it’s full of fucking porn), that collects porn of videogame characters, cartoons and etc. it contains a lot of porn of the characters from animal crossing. but which ones? who’se the most popular? which neighbors have had the most smut drawn of them? which animal leads the most active sex life? i decided to tally the animal crossing images on the site to see which animal crossing characters and species are the most desired.

Kung Fu Panda 2 :: rogerebert.com :: Reviews

furryne.ws - Tue 7 Jun 2011 - 22:11
Editor's note: The best part about this is the last paragraph:

Speaking of "Panda 3," I wonder if the relationship between Po and Tigress will advance from its current status as what might be called a warm friendship. Tigress seems to occupy a favored position in Po's heart, reopening the possibility of cross-species pollination.

A film team from Beyond Productions c/o National Geographic is in my town doing a segment on furries/fursuiters. We'll be airing in an episode next season alongside "real world superheroes". Our segment is driven around Nuka who is a Social Psychology doctorate student and the purveyor of this furry survey. I am going out for a few hours, but will be coming home around 3, and going out to another shoot after that. I may be able to get in some questions in between, but more than likely, it will be tonight, after we are done filming. (Today is the second of 2 days of filming)

Nazis tried to train dogs to talk, read and spell to win WW2

furryne.ws - Tue 7 Jun 2011 - 22:05
The Germans viewed canines as being almost as intelligent as humans and attempted to build an army of fearsome 'speaking' dogs, extraordinary new research shows.
Hitler hoped the clever creatures would learn to communicate with their SS masters - and he even had a special dog school set up to teach them to talk.
The incredible findings show Nazi officials recruited so-called educated dogs from all over Germany and trained them to speak and tap out signals using their paws.
One mutt was said to have uttered the words 'Mein Fuhrer' when asked who Adolf Hitler was.
Another 'spoke' by tapping letters of the alphabet with his paws and was said to have speculated about religion and learnt poetry.

Nazi talking dogs

Furry News Network - Tue 7 Jun 2011 - 18:22

Author: Fred

Wikipedia has a new article about Nazi experiments to train dogs to talk. The trainers claimed that one dog, when asked who Adolf Hitler was, would answer, “Mein Fuhrer”.

The article is based upon a May 2011 book, Amazing Dogs: A Cabinet of Canine Curiosities, by Jan Bondeson, which covers “talking dogs” back to the eighteenth century.
