Restored 'Metropolis' showing around North America

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

The most complete copy available in modern times, painstakingly restored by the F. W. Murnau Foundation and a consortium of German film archives, is now being shown across North America. Unlike the version most people are used to seeing, which runs about 90 minutes and looses dozens of scenes, this newest version restores the original orchestration, title cards and clarity, to a state which finally brings it from a trippy film to one with understandable plot and powerful direction. Though still lacking 25 minutes of the original, it is an exceptional work of restoration.
Don't live near one of the metropolis' showing the film? Don't worry, it's coming out on DVD and VHS.
