Full article here, including picture.

Dennis Smith is tattooed from head to toe with orange and black stripes and his teeth have been filed to needle point.

He has also had latex whiskers implanted and surgery to his lips so he has a permanent snarl. He now wants a surgeon to graft tiger fur on to his skin, like a perma-wig.

Mr Smith, who has changed his name by deed poll to Cat Man, said: "I have a collection of old tiger pelts from the days of hunting. I want these grafted on to me. It will cost another $100,000 but will be worth it.

"When I have the coat of a tiger, I feel I will have reached my goal in life."

Micah's Note: No idea whether to put this under 'Animals' or 'Furry News'. What we really need is a 'Weirdos' category. ;)

Hey, it's his money. Let him knock himself out. Just don't ask me if I think it's a SMART use of money.

"Knock himself out" This is very likely in the end. If this fellow actually does get a skin graft by some means, the amount of difficulties he is going to bring upon himself won't be surprising. First of all we humans sweat all over our bodies. By him covering himself up with fur he is setting himself up for heat exhaustion.

If not that remember that the felids keep themselves cool by panting and by sweating through their paws. This guy is going to suffer for his spirit. Just think of not being able to get out of fursuit. Next problems the body sweats out many chemicals from it systems so I don't know what this fellow is going to smell like even in the short term.

Now depending on how far this guy goes with this I think he is going to be very unhappy in the future.

Filing teeth and getting tattooes pales in comparison with the 'fur graft' problem. Not concerning myself with the social problems this would create, there are still some serious tech and health problems inherent in this:

* The pelts are dead and treated with toxic chemicals.

* The chemicals will seep into his body.

* His body is likely to reject and attack the new material.

* The skin is also a barrier to infection; he'll lose that.

About the only way I can see to overcome these problems at the moment is to have LOTS of hair grafts. Human hair comes in Orange and Black too, you know. Were he to have hair plugs all over his body instead of a dead alien (to his system) skin, it _might_ work.

It is his life, money, and body. Tattooes, fur, nipple rings, fursuiting... however a person wishes to torture himself is his business and none of yours. Anything done to excess is repulsive IMHO, but it is not my place to judge.

Neither is it any of yours.

The problem with hair plugs is you have to have someplace to get the hair from. You're taking it from one place on your body and putting it in another. This doesn't help if you want more hair overall. Normally hair is "stolen" from the back of the neck, where most people don't need it, and moved to the forehead, where people tend to be sensitive about losing it.
