FANTAGRAPHICS (http://www.fantagraphicsbooks.com/)
MAR111133 Sibyl-Anne vs. Ratticus hc, 8"x11", 64pg, color $16.99
by R. Macherot
'Macherot's charming mouse's-eye views of bucolic idyll and his fast-paced, witty storytelling turn this book into something like a Pixar version of The Wind in the Willows. Part of Fantagraphics' program of bringing American readers the best of post-Tintin Franco-Belgian all-ages comics, Macherot's "Sibylline" series (as it is called in French) is widely regarded as one of the great classics of the field.'
The best Franco-Belgian anthromorphica matches the best in English, and I'm glad to see this appear. I've only read one Macherot album, Chaminou et le Khrompire, a very good one intended to start a series but ended after #1 because it was too noir for the publisher. (It was continued later by others; I thought Yann and Bodart's L'affaire Carotassis was even better.) See http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/showthread.php?27199-Fantagraphics-To-Publish... for a sample page in French. It's not clear to me which album this is, or even if its contents match any French album; possibly *Sibylline en danger*. In any case, recommended.
