Washington DC, Pentagon Attacked...

Report from Northern Virginia Furs group moderator... on the DC situation

First, and foremost, there are currently no reports of local furs who are hurt or injured, however I have already heard that families of some furs have been struck with this tragety.

To them, I speak for many that extend our extreme condolences.

The Pentagon was struck and the outer ring of 5 rings of the building was hit by one large aircraft. That part of the building collapsed. It is only one part of the Pentagon near where the helicopters land, between corridors 3 and 5, in the "D" ring area. Many were out of a nearby part of the Pentagon due to it being under renovation. That area, however, was occupied. Many are presumed dead and many more injuried. I have been in that part of the Pentagon, but no furs that I know should have been there for any reason. I can tell you, the pictures I have seen are not able to describe the amount of damage actually done to the Pentagon.

The DC area has been declared under a state of emergency. The US government is closed. The national emergency radio net has been activated, and military helicopters are flying over my head on a regular basis. Maryland, Viginia, and DC are all under declared states of emergency. The DC Army National Guard has been activated. Locally, people have been asked to go home, and stay home.

Reports that the capitol building, or the state department building, or the washington monument were also bombed are *FALSE.*

Local furs are involved in the emergency and helping out. If you know any furs in DC who needs help or is stranded, they can contact me at (camstone@dirtdeninn.org) or any of the other local furs and we will help them.

Also, there is a shortage of *all* blood products. Please contact the red cross and donate locally if you can.

Lastly, unless you know something to be fact... don't spread rumors.

God Bless you all,

Camstone Fox

Any similarity between the attacks and Stalag '99 are coincidence. I nor anyone involved (afaik) are not in collusion for terrorism.

I want to put up that disclaimer, because frankly put, some similarity is already in there (with the attacks on the WolfSkunk space station 'Bablyon Alpha'). I realized this myself today, and have put it on my site.

"First, and foremost, there are currently no reports of local furs who are hurt or injured, however I have already heard that families of some furs have been struck with this tragety."

Uhm, yeah. Does the rather insensitive tone of this remind anyone else of the Monty Python "News for Parrots" sketch?

"No parrots were involved in an accident on the M-1 today when a lorry carrying high-octane fuel was in collison with a bollard. That's a BOLLARD and *NOT* a PARROT. A spokesman for parrots said he was glad no parrots were involved."

The social isolationist tendances of furry fans really amaze me.

I thought it was nice they tried to pass on information.

Speaking as the one who started the "Accounting for friends" thread, it was in no way intended to give anyone the impression that furs are isolated or favor members of our own community over others. It was simply in recognition of the fact that we have members from all over the country and the world, including New York and Washington, who are friends with one another that may have been concerned about each other's well being. Yes, we all have families, friends, and co-workers outside the community, who for many if not all of us are more important than our fellow furs, whom we are hopefully in touch with by other means . Nevertheless, we are also friends of each other in the furry community, and to that purpose flayrah was considered a way to let each other know how we're doing.

That was the intent and the spirit of what I posted in the begining. Thank you Mwalimu, for helping to put the post in the light it was truely intented to be seen in. But as usual, if someone wants to nit-pic... I'm sure we could find reasons to complain about almost everything.
