The Wyrmkeep Entertainment Co. has released a short demo video of their adventure game Inherit the Earth: Sand and Shadows that is currently in development.

The following is The Wyrmkeep Entertainment Co.’s newsletter for July 2014. Items of interest include the announcement of the title for the Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb sequel, a new funding drive for that sequel and a new online reseller for Quest for the Orb.

Wyrmkeep Entertainment, who recently launched a Kickstarter project to fund a sequel to their perennial point & click adventure, have cancelled it, admitting the campaign was insufficiently compelling to non-fans. A post-mortem of the project is underway.

The original Inherit the Earth was released in '94 for IBM-PC and Macintosh computers, and has recently been re-released for modern computing and mobile platforms. AdventureGamers awarded it four stars out of five saying that it was "One of the most enjoyable adventures to come out of the mid-1990's."

Before its cancellation, the project had raised $8,507 of its $135,000 goal from 159 backers.

After a nine-month hiatus, the Inherit the Earth webcomic has returned — in full-color, featuring a new story and new artist (Falkurneeze).

Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb has been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

This classic adventure game tells the tale of Rif the Fox and his attempt to prove his innocence in the theft of the Orb of Storms, a relic of the ancient Humans. The player guides Rif and his companions/guards Okk the Boar and Eeah the Elk in discovering clues, overcoming challenges, and exploring a land of intelligent, humanoid animals.

The iPhone/iPod Touch release is available from iPhSoft. Versions for other computer platforms can be downloaded from The Wyrmkeep Entertainment Co.

Classic furry adventure game Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb has been ported to the Pocket PC platform by maintainers Wyrmkeep Entertainment.^[1] The same company released a CD version for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X in 2004. An official comic was started in 2005.

Inherit The Earth's storyline revolves around the development of anthropomorphic species, who have formed into tribes after a biological catastrophe wiped their human creators from the Earth. The player guides a member of the Fox tribe, Rif, in his quest to locate the Orb of Storms, a technological artifact which can predict the weather.

Assisted in his quest by members of two other species, Rif and his new friends must solve several puzzles and help other characters deal with their own problems in order to achieve their goal.

The Inherit the Earth web site is featuring a new comic strip that takes place in the world first introduced in the computer game Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb. The strip is being co-authored by Allison Hershey (designer and artist on the original game) and the staff at The Wyrmkeep Entertainment Co. The Inherit the Earth site will also be presenting little-seen concept art from the game.

Wyrmkeep Entertainment is offering free shipping on all our products during the holidays. This includes Inherit the Earth: Quest for Orb (for Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux), the Inherit the Earth Adventurers Guide (the hint book), and newly released The Labyrinth of Time (not furry).
