To go along with furry Fortnite skin ranking, rather than have a poll with 60 options, instead, let's rank the Fortnite Pets.

Here's a list with links for those who don't play the game or missed them or whatever but still love polls:

Bonesy the Dog
Camo the Chameleon
Dodger the Fox
Empress the Cat
Gunner the Dog (a.k.a. Ceedog)
Hamirez the Hamster
Kitsune the ... Two-Tailed Pterodactyl
Kyo the Robot Cat
Remus the Wolf
Scales the Dragon
Woodsy the Puppet Dog

Perhaps by the time the result is known, we can put the victor inside the "heavy-duty furry" Pelt Pack.

Never played but looking through the links, Dodger is clearly the cutest. That's not to say there weren't some other good ones too.

I don't play this game. I find it to be too new school in my opinion.

It's about the only school running right now - everywhere else is in lockdown. No Last of Us 2 for you! Even Fortnite is delayed.

I found with games these days I like to keep off the hamster wheel.

I have to kind of thank gaming companies for implementing microtransactions so aggressively. It made me realize that all video games are a time sink and I should be utilizing on other things.

I'll watch others play them if I care about the narrative beats of a game.

The only games I play these days are those I stream on my YouTube channel, in which I play furry games which does two things: 1) Gives me a swath of games I can review. 2) Allows me to experience games that other people haven't really covered in major depth.

Usually they don't have micro-transactions or other such modernisms either, which is a bonus.

Not updating the poll, because "eh", but they finally released a new pet; Ohm, who also works as a Glider (if both the glider and backbling are unlocked and equipped). Mechanical owl, by the way.

Okay, so the new Season started today, and we have a new pet ... it's Rocket. As in Rocket Raccoon (except this is apparently the MCU version, not the 616 version, so he's just Rocket); not sure how that character would actually feel about being classified as a Pet. Yeah, the Battle Pass is all Marvel (and not just the movies; there's She-Hulk, and the Mystique and Wolverine available are very clearly the comics versions, and not the movie version, in contradistinction to Rocket); Groot is available as a skin, but if you combine Rocket and Groot, I believe they get a unique emote.

Looks more like Robo-Rocket to me. The Rockinator? I admit, the MCU vs. 616 bit went a bit over my head, but I seem to recall the movie Rocket has rounded ears and (yeah, I know models have limits) fuzzier fur.

I guess it's the one over here? At least the bit about him looking like a robot makes some sense now. But seriously, did they just put him in a suit to cut down on the amount of fur to draw?

In fact, the more I look at it, it seems to be an awkward mashup - the comic one has black whiskers, not white, and brighter fur; but the movie one lacks the triangular ears or such a well-defined mask.

In the comics, the "main" Marvel storyline takes place in a universe that is designated number "616", out of infinite possible variations of the multiverse; the random number was originally meant as a spoof of DC's "Earth 1/Earth 2" numbering of different continuities, and first appeared in a stories specifically about heroes who could travel between different parallel universes (I think the in-story reason for the number is that it's the 616th variation to deviate from Universe 0). Basically, if a story takes place in the mainline Marvel comics continuity, it is part of "616".

Rocket isn't really drawn that standard between different artists at Marvel, so the Fortnite modelers probably did take bits and pieces from different representations they liked. Also, I think the "robotic" parts you're seeing are a rocket pack he's wearing; the crop on that image is a bit weird. He's wearing machinery, not part machine.

My impression mostly came from the way he looked more like he was made of moulded plastic than fur. Though the red eyes didn't help! It's picky, as you can't do the same things on a model for a mass-market game intended to be run on integrated or mobile graphics as you can for a main character in a high-budget movie with a render farm.

Well, okay, anyway, uh, Rocket is ... weird.

He's a bizarre mixture of Pet and Emote, and is apparently only available while playing the Groot skin. You do the emote, and he shows up and then he hovers around Groot until you win or are eliminated (I still haven't unlocked Groot or Rocket).

We now have Baby Yoda too.
