Redwall Abbey Minecraft map first step towards 3D game
On April 10, Soma Games (a computer game company based in Oregon, USA) acquired the game rights for Redwall, the book series by the late Brian Jacques.
Jacques' series, spanning 22 books, was populated by a variety of anthropomorphic animals, including "noble" mice, moles, and badgers, and "vermin" rats, foxes, and weasels.
Soma's game, entitled Redwall: The Warrior Reborn, will be in 3D, allowing players to walk the cloisters of Redwall Abbey. On April 26, Soma Games started a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. As of May 1, the campaign has raised almost $8,000 in pledges from nearly 200 backers, of a $11,000 goal. Pledge rewards include the game itself, MP3 and PDF files of game content, and party and mailing list invitations, signed books, and sculptures.
As a first step, a Minecraft build of Redwall Abbey, AbbeyCraft, will be created, to form a 3D representation of the abbey that is as consistent as possible with its literary depiction.
Update (May 26): The Kickstarter campaign was successful, with 434 backers pledging $17,618.

Wow... Finally! This made my week!
Would buy it in a nanosecond.
I'm wary of this group of gamedevs. Heavily christian.. very unclear on where they are going.
Unaware how one's religious affiliation has to do with it... seeings as Redwall isn't known for it's lewdness.
They say in their about page that they aren't making games that teach the Bible, so I'd take them at their word. (cause otherwise they're being deceitful and well that's not too Christian, is it?)
what do you mean just out of curiosity
What do they have against dogs and fornicators?
That's kind of paranoid of you.
I'm watching this project with interest, was a big Redwall fan back in the day.
I'm interested - where I live, the library is so poor Redwall books are the only Anthropomorphic animal stories.
I'm not sure I made this part clear - I read them a lot.
this game seems like a worth while project I can't wait until its ready I have read almost all of the series
Nervous about it but if it pulls it off then it'd be awesome. I love the Redwall books.
