Flayrah Closing

I'm sorry to announce that as of December 8th, Flayrah will be shutting down.
Over the past few years the site has seen a fall-off in traffic as story submissions and readership have dropped, as people go elsewhere for their Furry related news.
At MFF last weekend, I talked over the situation with Aureth, who first launched the site and still owns the domain, and we agreed that the writing has been on the wall for a while.
So, once the domain expires we will no longer be renewing it, and this site will become unreachable.
To those that have supported and contributed to the site in the past, thank you.

Is the site content being archived anywhere? There's a lot of content in many of the past discussions that would be a treasure trove of historical information on furry fandom.
Hey guys, just heard news about the closing. I'm not exactly sure why flayrah wants to close rather than simply update the software to something newer. There's joomla, drupal, etc. The name is still good. No reason why the site should close or simply just be "bought out" by someone more interested in running it. I really think that it's a bad decision.
Well, it's been almost a month since then - the new year is here and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of a site that's vanished. In fact, I still see new posts existing. I hope that Flayrah continues to thrive through the new year, as 2011 will undoubtedly be a banner year for us all. Here's to good furry news!

A month and a year, in fact. I took over at the start of 2010, and we've been quite busy since then. :-)
Thank ye gods. *L* I didn't look at the year on those posts. Der. I'm just glad to have finally found a site that I can hope to rely on for good, unbiased (as much as ever possible) news content on the fandom! Thank you for keeping it going!

13 years later, glad to see the site is still up lol.
Indeed - we recently moved to a new server, and added faceted search last year. Keep up with stories using the Flayrah tag! Smaller updates, such as changes for mobile usability, high-DPI screens, or new contact options, are shared via Newsbytes.
