An African Grey is numeralogically smarter than most birds--and some people. He understands a variant on the abstract concept of "none", something very difficult to teach animals.

The teaching techniques used with the parrot may prove useful for instructing learning disabled children. The full story is available here from Science Daily.

Pittsburgh Scientists Create Zombie Dogs?

Your rating: None Average: 4.7 (3 votes)

Scientists in Pittsburgh's Safar Centre for Resuscitation Research have apparently reanimated dead dogs several hours after removing all of their blood and replacing it with a cold saline solution. (No, this isn't a hoax story.) The purpose of the research is to develop a better way to cryogenically freeze people.

The Pittsburgh group plans research to begin on humans within a year. Yes, you guessed it--just in time for Anthrocon 2007.

New small-press furry fiction anthology open for submissions.

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

FANG, the "little black book of furry fiction", is an ambitious new project that aims to make quality furry fiction available in comfortable paperback format, slated for an August release to coincide with Camp Feral.
As much an attempt to galvanize the amateur furry fiction community into striving for a higher standard in their work as to provide furs with an anthology of some of the best work currently available, FANG takes a rather unique stance toward material that's been previously available on-line. Not only does FANG not have a policy against previously published material, readers are encouraged to mail their favourite authors, to urge them to submit their work to FANG.

A newborn kitten recently entered the world with two faces and, hopefully, at least nine lives. Gemini was born Sunday with two mouths, two tongues, two noses and four eyes.

"I kind of feel sorry for her, because I can't know for a fact if she's going to live or die," its owner, Lee Bluetear of Glide, told the (Roseburg) News-Review. "If she makes it, she should be a perfectly normal and healthy cat. Other than having two faces."
