Meet Our Charity Organization: The Ellijay Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary

The Ellijay Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary is a 50-acre facility that medically cares for all species of orphaned and injured wildlife indigenous to Georgia and the southeast. It began 30 years ago when a young boy named Craig Cylke began rescuing and caring for injured animals that he found in the wild. It wasn’t long before the surrounding community learned that Craig would take care of any wild animals in need that were brought to him. Today, the sanctuary is a state and federally licensed facility that remains under the guidance of Craig and his wife, Debbie who are both certified in wildlife rehabilitation.

To date, the sanctuary’s dedicated staff has educated over 100,000 children and adults through on-site course offerings, summer camps, and mobile education programs. It is their hope that through environmental education, schools, churches, civic groups and families will come to learn about the “Circle of Life” –realizing that if we all help to take care of "mother nature,” she in turn will take care of us.

Furry Weekend Atlanta hosted Ellijay in 2005 and was proud to have them returning to visit us again in 2006! Furry Weekend attendees donated almost $3,000 to the Sanctuary in 2005 and we are looking forward to shattering that record again in 2006!

http://anthrozine.com

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here, letting you know that ANTHRO #2 is online for your reading pleasure -- in more ways than one! We've chosen a select variety of furry novels that you can buy through Amazon.com, and if you *do* that, ANTHRO will recieve a percentage of the purchase price. We get a bit of cash, and you get a good reading experience. Is that a win-win situation, or what? If this appeals to you, click on SUPPORT in the navigation menu, then on the "buy a book" link. If it doesn't appeal to you, just keep in mind that any money we get from this will go to ANTHRO's contributing artists and writers.
Speaking of artists, the first thing you'll see in this issue is a darn fine cover by Lucius Appaloosius! And on the inside, we've got a nicely extensive lineup...
