This is certainly a different take on a very old legend. We’ve talked before about the author Greg Van Eekhout and his book Voyage of the Dogs. Well it seems he’s still in a canine mood with his new book, Fenris & Mott. “When Mott finds a puppy abandoned in a recycling bin, she’s ready to do everything she can to protect him. What she doesn’t realize, however, is that this is the legendary wolf Fenris, who’s prophesied to bring about the end of the world by eating the moon. Now Mott has found herself in charge of making sure the hungry pup—who’s busy munching on lampposts, cars, and water towers—doesn’t see all of California as an appetizer, while also hiding him from the Norse gods who are hot on his trail, determined to see the prophecy come true.” Typical canine hyjinks, of course. Cthulhu Coffee presents its Midwest Furfest 2002 con report
Posted by Feren on Thu 12 Dec 2002 - 13:40Cthulhu Coffee is a website primarily focused on the horror genre. With such a predilection towards all things Lovecraft you probably wouldn't expect such a site to have much that would interest the Furry fandom. That's where you'd be wrong.
Happy Cows?
Posted by Cordite on Thu 12 Dec 2002 - 13:40PETA has threatened to file suit in contest of the "Happy Cow" commercial claims. Sponsored by the California Milk Advisory board, the commercials pitch the slogan: "Great cheese comes from happy cows. Happy cows come from California".
PETA argues that the life of the cows is far removed from the lush rolling pastureland depicted in the campaign's television advertisments.

Saving Alberta Horses from the butcher's block...
Posted by Cordite on Wed 11 Dec 2002 - 14:14An article ran today in both The Globe and Mail and The National Post about two young girls on a mission to rescue tens of thousands of horses in Alberta from slaughter.
The girls began their efforts after hearing word that due to drought the horses could not be fed over the winter and would have to be put down. Industry is baffled over the efforts as they recognize horse slaughter as a viable and profitable enterprise.
The two girls - Katie and Emma Harvey, from Cupids, Newfoundland - have a website at http://www.freewebs.com/freealbertahorses/
